Wings 3D is a free and open source polygon mesh subdivision modeler inspired by Nendo and Mirai from Izware, all using the winged edge data structure. Wings 3D is available for most platforms, including Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, using the Erlang environment. Wings 3D is best suited for modeling and texturing low-polygon meshes, towards which its interface is geared. When compared to other open-source modeling programs such as Blender, its GUI is minimalistic. This allows a very flexible way of working, but it also means that Wings 3D is more limited than other modeling programs in certain areas. For instance, Wings 3D cannot handle animations, only comes with an OpenGL renderer, and becomes sluggish when processing models with an extremely high polygon count. However, Wings 3D has a fairly shallow learning curve, and a plug-in system. Though it lacks a powerful internal renderer, Wings can be combined with raytracing programs such as POV-Ray, YafRay, or Art of Illusion to produce high-quality images.
I created this PDF file, for pure learning (pdf file creation) purpose and to give Wings 3D some publicity, and I do not take any credit for the material in it, some images will really surprise you I’m sure.
