While a lot of places around the country are beginning to open back up after closing down from the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people are still wary about it being too soon, choosing to stay in quarantine as much as they can. While being in quarantine during a pandemic is a good thing, as it helps flatten the curve, your health can decline in other ways. We’re stagnant much more often, and we may begin to eat more or even “stress eat” due to the way we’re feeling. In order to take care of yourself, it’s important that you try and eat healthy and not get lost in eating junk food. Here are a few tips for healthy eating during quarantine

HAVE AN EATING SCHEDULE One of the hardest parts of being in quarantine, especially if you’re not working, is keeping a schedule. Prior to all of this, you likely went to work each day and took your break at the same time each day, meaning you ate at the same or around the same time each day. It’s easy for the days to mesh together right now, so creating an eating schedule is of the utmost importance for your health.

WORK AWAY FROM YOUR KITCHEN If you’re like many other people in the country, you’ve likely had to adjust to working from home during the quarantine. Being stuck at home is already tough enough as it is, but having to turn your home into your office is an entirely different beast. If you can, it’s best that you set yourself up as far from the kitchen as possible. If you have the kitchen in your sight while you’re working, you’re more likely to go and grab snacks, especially as a way to pass the time.

BE SURE TO EAT FRUITS AND VEGGIES While this is something you should be doing anyway, it’s even more important right now, while you’re stuck in quarantine. By eating your fruits and vegetables, you’ll be able to reduce inflammation, which plays a large role in many and most diseases. Be sure to eat onions, tomatoes, apples, berries, green leafy vegetables, oranges and much more. It’s also important that you eat at least 5 to 6 servings of veggies and 2 to 3 of fruit each day.
