A short look at Rifle and Gun Stocks Not long got my Winchester.315 rifle blank from the case. I assembled the dismantled gun pieces and it was witness to the beautiful weapon. What caught my attention was the stock of walnut wood. It looked wonderful and put into the aura from the guns beauty. This is certainly effectively on the list of reasons like the stock on the gun. The gun out of the box well-known follows Newton's third law of motion, which states that to each action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Thus if you fire the rifle or gun the bullet that leaves the barrel in a certain speed carries a recoil effect plus the gun exerts a pressure within the shoulder. Because the gun or rifle nestles involving the hollow with the shoulder the recoil is greatly lessened should the gun is held firmly. The stock or butt from the rifle stocks assists in cushioning the recoil effect. Thus in addition to the looks the stock gets the primary purpose of cushioning the recoil or kick back. It has to be noted how the heavier the gun greater the recoil. Stocks for rifles and guns earlier were only crafted from wood. Those were the golden times and the stocks were generally all hand-made and invariably crafted from teak, walnut or sheesham. A number of wood were used as well as tariff of the stock accordingly varied together with the quality of wood used. Some stocks also were engraved with designs and these added a personalized touch to your weapon. If needed there were stock manufactures that would for a price produce a stock as per your specifications and engrave any design you wanted. But with the passage of time and with greater commercial exploitation and mass scale manufacture the consumer stock is very much losing sight of fashion. Also new materials like carbon and Bakelite are appearing as stock material. These have their advantage that they will be much lighter than wooden stocks even so the individual stamp is actually difficult to keep up. Present day synthetic stocks don't entice a lot many shooters. Perhaps these are now many due to high price and scarcity of good wood nevertheless the facts are that most fire arms inside the United Sates are offered with synthetic stocks. Things are a little better in India in which the private gun manufacturers in Jammu and Bihar still use good wood like walnut for that stocks. The Jammu gunsmiths will also engrave any particular design or motif you'd like on the stock. But bear in mind they will only manufacture shot guns. There isn't any doubt that a stock made of artificial material can be done a great deal less than an item made from wood. But again a good deal many gun owners will still prefer the traditional wooden stock because of their guns and rifles. Allow us to hope they cannot fade.
