Yellow
Hi- Vis Yellow was developed for applications where seeing your line is critical. Many anglers will utilize short fluorocarbon leaders with this color line, especially in clear water. Applications for hi-vis lines range from bobber fishing the rivers in the Pacific Northwest to fly-lining sardines and anchovies along the California coast; fishing the lakes and rivers of the the central regions for bass, walleye and catfish to targeting fluke and stripers in the Northeast. For pelagic fishermen looking for better spread management to inshore anglers targeting snook, redfish and trout, PowerPro® Hi-Vis Yellow can give you an advantage in all applications.
PowerPro® Yellow > Ideal for high visibility applications when seeing line placement and movement is critical > Combine with a short Fluorocarbon leader for the ultimate in high visibility and stealth, especially in clear waters > Enhanced Body Technology™ provides a structurally superior line that is rounder and smoother for greater casting distance and superior strength to size ratio
Braided from 100% Spectra® Fiber

Vermilion Red
The development of Vermilion Red is based largely on the color spectrum in water. Since shades of red are the first color to fade, it is thought that by using red colored line, the angler’s line will “disappear” underwater. Truth be told, red does not disappear but in fact turns to a shade of gray. This gray tone will help to blend the line in to the background and become much less visible to most fish that swim. The color red will fade out at a depth of approximately 14 feet. Therefore, when targeting fish in depths of 15 feet or greater, Vermilion Red is ideal. Whether you are deep cranking for bass; trolling for lake trout, walleye or salmon; to bottom fishing in deep rivers...Vermilion Red PowerPro® should be on your customers reels.
PowerPro® Vermilion Red > Features new dye concentration system that eliminates color bleeding > Fades to Gray at approximately 14 feet, the Gray tone allows the line to blend-in to the background making it more difficult for fish to detect > Superior strength to size ratio enables the angler to fish with lighter and more compact reels > Features the PowerPro® proprietary Enhanced Body Technology™ (EBT) • Near zero stretch for greater sensitivity and better hook sets • Abrasion resistant for fishing all types of structure • Smooth and slick for superior casting performance Braided from 100% Spectra® Fiber

White
Much like Hi-Vis Yellow, our White line was developed for applications where seeing your line is critical. For pelagic fishermen looking for better spread management to inshore anglers targeting snook, redfish and trout, PowerPro® white line can give you an advantage in all applications when seeing your line means catching more fish.
PowerPro® White > Ideal for high visibility applications when seeing line placement and movement is critical > Combine with a short Fluorocarbon leader for the ultimate in high visibility and stealth, especially in clear waters > Enhanced Body Technology™ provides a structurally superior line that is rounder and smoother for greater casting distance and superior strength to size ratio

Color Availability: Moss Green, Hi-Vis Yellow, White, Vermilion Red Colors
man to use Red line. But Why? The logic behind this trend is based largely on the color spectrum in water. The color red will completely fade out at a depth of 14 feet. Therefore, when targeting fish in depths of 20 feet or greater, Red Line is ideal. Whether you are deep cranking for bass; trolling for lake trout, walleye or salmon; to bottom fishing in deep rivers…Red PowerPro® should be on your reel.
Most people choose color based on personal preferences, but for fishermen, color is a necessity. Each application requires a specific color line. Anglers decide on the color lure they will throw, and should also be selective with the color of line to use in each application.
Moss Green This color is ideal for water types ranging from glacial
and high run off river systems to all oceanic regions of the world. Green is also suited for fishing in clear lakes to lakes that have large algae blooms. Because green is similar to many bio organisms, it will “blendin” to the background of the typical surroundings with which a fish is familiar.
Hi-Vis Yellow/White These two colors are designed for applications
Fluorocarbon Leader
where a high visibility line is necessary. It is typical for anglers to use a short fluorocarbon leader with Hi-Viz lines, especially in clear waters. The angler is able to accomplish the goal of having a line that is invisible to fish that are close to the bait or lure by adding fluorocarbon. Yellow and White PowerPro® applications range from Bobber fishing the rivers of the Great North West to Fly-lining sardines and anchovies along the California coast; fishing the lakes and rivers of our Nation’s central regions for bass, walleye and catfish to targeting Fluke and Stripers in the North East; pelagic fisherman looking for better spread management on the troll to inshore fisherman targeting Snook, redfish and trout. High visibility lines can be used in all applications.
Vermilion Red In recent years there has been a craze among fisher-
Fluorocarbon leaders are used regularly in conjunction with PowerPro®. The specific applications where a fluorocarbon leader is used range from Flylining baits for Pelagics to tournament bass fisherman drop-shotting in clear lakes. By utilizing a Fluorocarbon Leader, PowerPro® can be used in all situations an angler may encounter. With this technique, anglers do not have to sacrifice sensitivity, strength and abrasion resistance like they had to when fishing straight monofilament was their only option.
Spinning Reels
Over the years, many anglers have asked us about PowerPro® on spinning reels. The overwhelming question was, “PowerPro® works perfectly on my baitcast reel…but how will it perform on my spinning reel?” It will perform beautifully. Because of PowerPro’s Enhanced Body Technology (EBT), you will feel the line simply glide off of your spinning reel and through tm

your guides giving you casting distance like never before. PowerPro® will outperform monofilament and other super lines because of the EBT process. Spinning reels equipped with the Propulsion® Line Management System are ideal for use with PowerPro® as the small loops thrown off the spool minimize backlash, loops and tangles. For the best PowerPro® spinning reel experience look for Propulsion® equipped spinning reels that also utilize the Aero Wrap® II Oscillation for the best line lay possible.

All braided lines need to be spooled in a specific manner. Because of PowerPro’s incredibly thin diameter and limited stretch, it is very important that your PowerPro® line is packed tightly on your reel. When a braided line is first put onto your reel, ideally you should place a small piece of arbor tape (or electrical tape) onto the spool itself. The tape prevents the spool from slipping underneath your line. (TIP: If you do not use a few wraps of monofilament or tape as backing, the PowerPro will actually slip on the spool giving you the illusion that the reel has no drag). Once the tape is in place, wrap your PowerPro® around the spool 2-4 times. Next tie a “uni” knot and tighten around the spool. By wrapping the line around the spool 2-4 times, combined with the arbor tape, this will insure that your line will never slip on the spool. When braided line is being wound onto the reel, be sure to add pressure to your spool of PowerPro® to guarantee that the line is being packed tightly. Once you are finished spooling up your reel, use your thumb to press down on the line on your spool. If it feels soft, you may need to re-spool your line and apply more pressure. However, if you press down and the line feels hard, then your line is packed tightly on the spool and you are ready to go fishing!

Applications Trout and Kokanee Whether you are trolling for trout or Kokanee and need to put your bait in the strike zone with less weight, or fishing a crappie jig under a bobber in heavy cover, you can count on PowerPro®. The small diameter of PowerPro® compared to the same tensile strength as mono will help you get your bait deeper with less lead or drag when using downriggers. This will enable you to use lighter tackle and have more control over your fish. Panfish Nothing creates a more lifelike presentation than PowerPro®. Because of its small diameter, there is less drag from your line as your bait or lure move through the water. And when that hand sized Crappie grabs hold and tries to take you into the trees, you can rest assured that PowerPro® will be able to pull your fish out of the most impenetrable structures. Salmon Steelhead From backbouncing to backtrolling, pulling herring, side drifting and bobber jigging… PowerPro® is your line of choice. Hi-Visibility lines have become a staple of the salmon and steelhead fisherman. But color is just one aspect that is demanded of Steelheaders and Salmon fisherman alike. Extreme abrasion resistance for tough fishing situations like small streams with large
boulders, trees or sharp rocks. Combining its incredibly thin diameter to get your bait into the strike zone with less lead, or make your lure dive to depths that were not achievable with straight mono, with PowerPro’s extreme sensitivity to feel the slightest tap while in the slot, PowerPro® should be on every Salmon and Steelhead angler’s spool…PowerPro® should be on Every Salmon and Steelhead Fisherman’s spool. You work so hard for those few strikes every year…Why should you risk losing your fish by not using PowerPro®? InShore Whether you are targeting tarpon in the Boca Grande Pass, redfish in Venice or snook through the miles of back channels, PowerPro® is the ideal line for you. Bring your lures to life with the thin diameter of PowerPro® giving them an action even the hardest hit fish have yet to see. If you are fishing live baits, PowerPro’s sensitivity is unmatched to give you complete control of your bait so you can feel every beat of its tail as it is being chased. PowerPro’s abrasion resistance is a necessity when targeting in-shore species. From mangroves to coral to dock pilings; you will undoubtedly need the strength, power and abrasion resistance to pull your powerhouse of a fish from its ambush point. Ice fishing From the challenging weather to pulling your fish through 4 feet of ice, ice fishing is an extreme sport. Use an extreme line.
* PowerPro® is a registered trademark of Shimano American Corporation.
PowerPro® ICE is ideal for the ice fisherman because of its extreme abrasion resistance. When that trophy fish decides to make a run, you can rest assured that PowerPro® ICE has the abrasion
resistance to keep you in the game. Couple this with its small line diameter for a more life-like presentation and now you have a winning combination, whether on the bucket or in a shack. PowerPro® ICE comes in both ICE Blue and ICE Yellow. Utilize the blue braid when fish are finicky, while yellow is ideal for extra visibility. It is often used with a short section of fluorocarbon leader to give the angler high visibility but the bait a stealthy approach. Ice anglers spend hours on a frozen surface and face some of the toughest conditions an angler can face on this planet. Demands the performance of PowerPro® ICE. Light Tackle/Finesse When fish are finicky, anglers switch up their tactics and go small. Small baits for natural presentations, lighter action rods to feel every subtlety of the environment and smaller reels to reduce the overall weight of the setup and lessen angler fatigue. But what about line? Clearly having a smaller diameter line will be very important for stealth and presentation of your bait…but why should you sacrifice strength, durability and abrasion resistance? PowerPro® line has a much smaller diameter than monofilament or fluorocarbon and with PowerPro® having no stretch, the increase in sensitivity is drastic to feel exactly what your bait is doing down below. Just because you are utilizing Finesse techniques does not mean that you should lose fish in the structure where they are found. When Finesse fishing…Fish PowerPro®. Downrigger Fishing Across the country, downriggers are the standard in targeting suspended fish or placing small baits on the bottom in deep water. Downriggers are all about control. You should have control of your line as well. With PowerPro®’s ultra thin diameter, your main line will not “balloon” nearly as much as you have seen with monofilament. This means a better hookup ratio after the downrigger clip trips. Even if the clip does not trip, with PowerPro’s lack of stretch, the rod will react quicker
to the strike and you will have much better success after short grabs or slack bites. Couple PowerPro®’s durability and incredible abrasion resistance and you will have this line on your reels for years to come with no concern of “rough spots” or “kinks” in your main line. If you downrigger fish, you realize the importance of having quality and well maintained gear day in and day out… why should your line be your weak spot? Jigging There is no better choice for jigging than PowerPro®. Due to the small diameter the sink rate is astronomical allowing the angler to hit the mark even in heavy current conditions. Many anglers have reported hitting the bottom in half the time when compared to fishing with monofilament. Once you get there hold on because the no stretch properties of PowerPro® make a strike at depth addicting and violent. There is nothing more fun than to feel a big grouper, or yellowtail slam your jig and to have the brute force to pull them out of whatever nasty piece of structure they are trying to run for. Pelagic Live Bait techniques are used extensively for species ranging from tuna to marlin. When fishing live bait the first rule is not to lose contact with your bait. The best fishermen have a knack for this and PowerPro® makes this easier. Imagine if you could feel everything your bait was doing! Even on a long soak. When using PowerPro® with live bait, anglers can sense the bait getting nervous and know their bait will get bit before it even happens. A full spool of PowerPro® with a short top shot of fluorocarbon and you will be on your way to being a better Live bait fisherman. Trolling When trolling the first advantage noticed is how PowerPro® slices through the water. This adds life to your jigs
and makes the pattern come to life. When using riggers the smaller diameters that PowerPro® is known for makes turning the corner through rigger clips a breeze. The colors available in PowerPro® help distinguish which rig the fish is on when watching the pattern as well as to ensure lines are not tangled. Combine this attribute with PowerPro’s small diameter and now you can use smaller lighter rods and reels to truly bring out the Sportsman from within. Be sure to have PowerPro® on your big game reels the next time you head to the grounds. Bottom Fish
Jigging with PowerPro® allows your jigs to hit the mark. The properties of PowerPro® that give it no stretch allow you to impart as much action into the jig as you wish. This is not possible with mono at depth. The stretch of mono acts as a rubber band and significantly dampens the action you impart to your jig of choice at depth. The punch you are able to deliver to stop a big bottom fish in their tracks that PowerPro® allows is a must.
Bait When soaking dead baits on the bottom, PowerPro® is the ideal line to use. With PowerPro’s no stretch design, you will feel every little tap even in the deepest of holes as if it were a telegraph from the fish to your rod tip. We all know the giants of rivers and oceans live on the bottom and you will need PowerPro’s abrasion resistant qualities to pull these beasts from their lair. Basd/Heavy Cover PowerPro’s performance will allow you to feel confident while fishing in the heaviest of cover. From acres of submerged timber to massive mats of lily pads, you can feel confident not only putting your bait into the abyss, but knowing that when your fish of a lifetime strikes, PowerPro’s no stretch quality will ensure that your fish is hooked hard. Once your beast is stuck, he has a world of cover to run to trying to break you off…not
to worry because PowerPro® has incredible breaking strength and abrasion resistance to help you pull any fish out of unbelievable cover. Don’t lose your kicker fish because you were not fishing PowerPro®…come to the weigh-in as the champion. Plastics One of the most consistent ways to pound big bass all year is fishing plastics. From Carolina and Texas rigs to drop-shotting, PowerPro® is your ideal line. The no stretch quality will give you incredible sensitivity to not only feel those “mush” bites, but to be able to feel every last stick, limb, rock or change in the substrate. The no stretch quality of PowerPro® will also ensure your hook set is powerful and quick enough when your bait is just being moved off of a bed or the fish picks up your bait and swims at the boat. Fishing plastics also means fishing in extreme cover. Again PowerPro’s abrasion resistance will pull fish from any structure so you have confidence in landing that fish that you have worked so hard for all day. Crankbaits Getting the maximum depth out of your crankbait can separate an angler from getting a 5 fish limit or just a long day on the water. With PowerPro’s thin diameter, you will be sure to gain extra depth. Monofilament and Fluorocarbon lines are thicker than PowerPro® and this increased “drag” in the water will keep your deep diver or even your slash bait from reaching the depths where the fish lay. Add in PowerPro’s no stretch and you will notice a better action out of your crankbait and a quicker hook set on short bites. The abrasion resistance from PowerPro’s EBT technology will allow you to fish in cover you never thought possible with a crankbait. Don’t lose your fish (or your $20 crankbait)…Put PowerPro® on your crankbait sticks.

Jose Wejebe 1958 – 2012
We envied Jose’s life. After his family moved from Cuba to South Florida in the early ‘60’s, he learned to fish from his dad. From there, his fishing expertise lead to becoming a very successful charter captain in the lower Florida Keys. Jose was involved with both Shimano rods and reels and our G.Loomis brand – he was as well-versed with a fly rod as he was with spinning, casting and trolling tackle – going back to the 1980’s. For the 1993 tackle year, we featured Jose in ‘Shimano Fishing’ – a combined magazine and product catalog where he shared his knowledge on tarpon fishing – a story that got many of us at Shimano just itching for a trip to the Keys and a chance to battle a silver king. It was in 1995 when Jose debuted his Spanish Fly TV show on ESPN2 – and obviously for all of us, we sure did enjoy seeing him using Shimano and G.Loomis tackle as he projected a thorough enjoyment to the sport of fishing. A few lucky ‘Team Shimano’ members even had the ultimate thrill of appearing on the show. As we developed new saltwater tackle over the years, listening to what Jose had to say about it was always in the mix. Stella – Torsa – Trinidad – we let Jose beat those reels up on everything from tarpon, AJ’s, tuna and sharks – before we brought them to the market. And as worked on new fishing techniques, it usually always started with a trip to the Keys to check all out with Jose. Back in 2006 when we introduced the Shimano Butterfly System, the birth of system had its roots in Key West starting in 2004. Our product development guys had a blast as Jose put them on big fish after big fish to see how our Trevala jigging rods would handle it all – all leading to showing anglers not only in the Keys but in many saltwater fishing areas that the Butterfly can be even more effective than live bait. And most recently, it was the Shimano Waxwing swimming jigs and our Terez saltwater rods where we relied a great deal on Jose. He helped us prove the success of the System on tuna and dorado. And he even had a hand with some of the original prototypes of the Tranx reel – who better to test it out on big tackle-busting fish than Jose on his Spanish Fly center console. Yes, we all envied Jose’s life. It was all about fishing. It was all about helping folks become better anglers – including many of us at Shimano. And we can’t thank him enough for that. Rest in peace bro…
