Carols For Christmas SATURDAY 19TH DECember | 5.00pm Forty Hall, Forty Hill, Enfield EN2 9HA Tickets | £10 Book | 0208 807 6680 | www.fortyhallestate.co.uk Performed by members of the Choir of St Mary Magdalene, Enfield and friends, and introduced by the Reverend Dr Gordon Giles. As we reach the height of the festive season come and sing the best loved carols and hear others performed in the beautiful atmosphere of the Tudor Hall. Dr Giles, a leading authority on carols and hymns, will introduce the carols, explaining the background and telling the stories and the accomplished choir will lead the singing of traditional favourites, less well known carols and even one or two brand new ones. Travel through history and around the world through the sounds of Christmas music, reflecting the timeless story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

A festive celebration of Christmas Carols and Music Hall. Swan & Dyer’s Winter Warmer is a fun-filled festive evening of wellknown sing along Christmas carols interspersed with famous of Music Hall numbers. Numbers such as “Daisy, Daisy”, “The Man on the Flying Trapeze”, “Waiting at the Church” are mixed in with all time favourites such as “Jingle Bells” and the virtuosic “Theme and Variations on the Carnival of Venice” (better known as “My Hat it Has Three Corners”). Performed in Victorian costume this event will appeal to everyone young and old with the joy of being together as a family and a community. The evening is light-hearted, humorous and fun. We’re confident that everyone will be singing along from the first number until the very end.

As an art form, stained glass reached its height in the Middle Ages when it was used to illustrate Biblical scenes to a largely illiterate audience. Stained glass windows have been a focal point for many significant buildings and Forty Hall, in fact, has its very own striking window on the east side of the building. In this exhibition Debbie Dean from Art Start explores the art of stained glass with an impressive selection beautiful stained glass images and sculptures. Debbie uses traditional methods of painting and firing new glass mixed with reclaimed antique glass to create vibrant artworks inspired by Victorian Gothic and Mexican Calavera. Look out for mythical animals and references to local history in the artworks and join one of Debbie’s workshops in December and January to learn how to create your own stained glass. Remember Forty Hall is free to enter and is open 6 days a week (Tuesday - Sunday) – step inside to find out the Hall’s history, admire the architecture and enjoy the latest exhibitions!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Winter is the busiest time in the burglar’s calendar Don’t make it easy for them 5 top tips for deterring burglars ❱ Install a visible intruder alarm system with an active bell box - both front and rear of the property. ❱ Ensure access to the side and rear of the property is restricted and if you have gates lock them. ❱ Use automatic timer-switches to turn on/off lights and radios when your home is unoccupied (evenings out/ holidays). ❱ Where door locks are operated by lifting the handle, use the key to double lock the door and take the key out; remember Lift-Lock-Remove. ❱ An internal letterbox shield will prevent keys being fished through the letterbox.
