











 Contrasting the heavy construction of Kansas City, this farmers market elegantly offers a new approach to the traditional urban produce store. The goal of the project is to expose the shoppers to the functional aspects of a working market similar to that of a traditional farmers market. The shoppers are able to see the natural growing process of the community garden as well as the utilitarian warehouse storage which the shopping area surrounds.

 





 Acknowledging the pursuits of artist Anselm Kiefer, the art museum reflects the idea that all humans continually seek a spiritual or collective whole beyond themselves. The prominent staircase punctures through a solid cubic form which allows users to engage in an internally reflective journey from the darkness to the light. 12

 Two historical Art Deco Piers mark the entrance and exit of Manhattan, Kansas. The intent of the project is to emphasize the beauty of the original piers while introducing a place sensitive landmark.

 

 

 

  

 Formed by the manipulation of horizontal planes, the lake house evokes an experience of dynamic movement. The horizontal planes of the house extend into the landscape, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior space.

 This group project is a performance examination of ventilated metal rainscreens in hot climates with the objective of minimizing heat gain. Focusing on perforations in the cladding, the experiments involved manipulating the size, density and pattern of the punctures within the panels. The process involved physical fabrication of small scale systems as well as computer simulations using the Autodesk computational fluid dynamics program.

 









 This project seeks to reinforce the purpose of the EPA which is to protect human health and the environment. By integrating work space, public space and nature, workers and visitors of the site are brought into close proximity. Establishing a central bond between the public and private realm is crucial for spreading the ideals of the Houston EPA lab.

 

 
