ABOUT ME Landscape Architecture has taught me that encompassing feelings can be shown in many different forms. A space can hold a story that can be interpreted in an infinite amount of ways. I have also learned that vegetation can be an extremely significant element to an experience, and I love working with various plant palettes. Outside of designing, I enjoy crafting, spending time with family and friends, and learning new skills. I am continually attempting new cooking/baking recipes and trying my hand at new hobbies. I am looking to increase my knowledge of design in the landscape. I believe my commitment to succeed, fast learning abilities, and willingness to take on any new challenge will make me the perfect fit as an employee.

SOUTHRIDGE GREEN MALL

Des Moines, Iowa Hand Drawing | Adobe Illustrator | Adobe InDesign | AutoCAD

As time goes on, malls across the country seem to become neglected. At the heart of the south side of Des Moines, Southridge Green offers many amenities, including diverse dining experiences, educational sites, retail, and green space. Together, we created a destination to appreciate and accept diverse cultures through food and innovative learning experiences. As a team, we worked on the hand renderings and design. Abigail hand rendered the sections and I did the plans and perspective shown. Individually, I created the construction documents in AutoCAD.

COMMUNITY PLANT CATALOG Hubbell Realty Company Landscape Internship InDesign | Photoshop | Research

While working as an intern with Hubbell Realty Company in Des Moines, IA, three other interns and I worked to create a solid plant catalog for the communities that Hubbell worked with. After talking with community member and constantly digging up dead plants that didn’t survive in certain communites, we decided that we wanted to give back to the communites and provide them with a resource to choose plants that they would want and ones that would survive in the given area. By creating the Community Plant Catalog, plants can be identified and chosen by their tolerance, size, color, preferred soil type, sun/shade preference, and other ornamental features.

PARK(ing) DAY PARKLET Design Build Sketchup | Hand-Drawing | Build

As a studio class, we took part in the 2019 ASLA PARK(ing) Day. Our studio was split into five groups to each build a parklet to be built in Des Moines, Iowa on September 20, 2019. Our team created The Grove, a parklet to bring nature into the urban setting. By using natural wood tones, plants native to Iowa, and hanging twine, we aspired to give the user a sense of walking through a grove of trees. Creating a path that was not perfectly straight and varied in width also helped give the user an idea of walking on an uneven trail in a forest. As a team, we all pitched in to build the parklet. In the process, I created the sketchup model.

Clover Woods 4-H Camp in Boone County, located along the Des Moines River, required some more direction to their land. By looking at and mapping the surrounding area of this l ocation, there was a lot of potential for a nature preserve and park. My design strategy was to utilize the 5 senses of a person, and create a site that engages all of those senses in some way. The portion of the design I show here includes all of these senses in an Educational Center. Here, visitors can learn about climate change, food health, sustainable agriculture practices, and organic agriculture by providing hands on learning experiences. As a team, we formed the GIS maps. We individually designed our own sites.

North Harbor Center

Upper Harbor Terminal, Minneapolis, Minnesota Photoshop | Illustrator | Indesign | Hand-Drawing

1

What was once the Upper Harbor Terminal located in Minneapolis, Minnesota is now North Harbor Center. North Harbor Center connects the near neighborhoods to the Mississippi river. The driving influence to the design of this site was the Rondo neighborhood which once was a lively African-American community that was sadly demolished by the construction of I-94. North Harbor Center creates a destination that celebrated communities and people who have and still are being mistreated. By providing spaces for cultural art, an Equal Rights Heritage Center, spaces for a farmers market, and homeless living shelters, there is space for any type of person to expand aand showcase their talents and lifestyle.
