BAYERN MUSEUM REGENSBURG _ GERMANY 2013 HISTORY MUSEUM _ 14.000 m² CONCEPTION-CONSTRUCTION

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION X+UN WORKTEAM

In association with A. Gonzalez, L. Seguí M. Piedras and T. Bernabó

FINALIST top 22 from 250 proposals Project published by Archdaily and Afasia web pages. The design of the Bayern’s history museum in Regensburg takes into account the impact of the most important landmarks surrounding the site. It is placed in the bank of the Donau River, which acts as a visual promenade that makes the building visible from a long distance and channels an important flow of people into the site. The building is up to four stories in this part, giving the building a proper size from the Donau and generating a representative image of the museum in the skyline of Regensburg.

D-GOSAN LIBRARY DAEGU _ SOUTH KOREA 2012 PUBLIC LIBRARY _ 6.000 m² CONCEPTION-CONSTRUCTION

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION X+UN WORKTEAM

In association with A. Gonzalez, L. Seguí and A. Olivera.

The Daegu Metropolitan City Office asked for a library with a strong multipurpose capacity, looking forward to a life-long education and cultural focus in the area. The conception of the building is characterized by the structural grid that support it, a regular timber grid. This grid, originating from a cube, grows or sets back generating the library’s volume. Though the grid has up to triple height empty spaces inside, acting as a timber truss. It grows out when additional space is needed. This growing in the façade creates a double height canopy that shelters the main entrance. The grid can set back for creating great balconies, allowing outside activities for some of the inner spaces. Project exposed in Daegu architectural bienal.

G - A C A D E M Y ALMERE _ HOLLAND 2011 SCHOOL _12.000 m² CONCEPTION-CONSTRUCTION

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION X+UN WORKTEAM Project Manager

The new G-Academy in Almere looks for the redefinition of the way the academic institutions work. The client’s brief of achieving and integrating old and young users was determinant to the design as well. Sited in a small cape facing a lake in the south part of the city, the design responds to the environment, where natural large-sized vegetation arrangements fill most of the landscape. This is achieved by the respect to the present vegetation, making the design dialogue with it while integrating it into the building functioning. The shape and form originates from a very clear system of organization. It parts from an elemental unit, the classroom. This organization born from a study of geometry, the final disposition is selected as it achieves the best formal integration, the best structural and the best use functionality.

From the outside, it is a noble mass of bricks, a protective enclosure, punctuated by long vertical glass openings, which are inserted behind the trees. The varnish bricks reflects the surrounding landscape in a chromatic variation of dark shades naturally. The plateaux on the ground floor and the first floor can be segmented into smaller areas or can be combined into one or more continuous entity. This modularity is also present in the potential evolved of the level of the ground floor which can accommodate business premises or offices. The four exterior facades, differentiated according to their orientation, are characterized by the rhythm of vertical ribs. These ribs are used to create a thickness that protects the vertical windows too direct sunlight, at a rate of one field offices. Tall windows allow light largely professional activities on the ground floor and offices on the first floor.
