DOCEXDOCE 2021: BEYOND BARRIERS “ (use)less walls” : Experimental proposal for the “ Peace walls” To this day, many citizens of Belfast think that the walls should be maintained to prevent ills between the neighborhoods, however, they lament the isolation to which they are subjected. Our proposal maintains the walls due to the complexity of the conflict, but proposes to redesign them to allow greater permeability when there is no disturbance. In addition, the new walls welcome new uses for the enjoyment of the neighbors. All this, together with a powerful lighting system, aims to minimize the negative impact of the “Peace walls” and tend to community integration. Neighbors need to be involved in this process.

OPENGAP INSPIRATION HOSTEL 2019 “ Latent ” : Experimental hotel for artists in Rio Tinto’s mines (Spain) Latent (adjective): present but needing particular conditions to become active, obvious, or completely developed. The competition asked for an experimental hostel design for artists. our proposal takes place in an open pit mine in Rio Tinto. A large structure is placed across the mine, in which the program takes place. Despite the large volume of this building, the facades are made of mirrored glass, making the building disappear and allowing the contemplation of the unique landscape of Rio Tinto.

MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING Cuesta de la Maruquesa, Valladolid (Spain) The “Cuesta de la Maruquesa” neighborhood in the city of Valladolid gets its name from the intense slope on which it is located, giving rise to a neighborhood made up of rows of houses that have very good views over the city. Socioeconomically, It is a poor neighborhood, so the proposal updates the basic infrastructure and can be used depending on what is needed. Thus, the building is arranged taking advantage of the views and provides the neighborhood with public spaces for transit and stay.

HOUSING Valladolid (Spain) This project organizes a flexible housing development on a very steep slope. Since it is located on the edge of the city with the countryside, it was decided to bury the roads and car parks so that they do not hinder the public space on the surface. In addition, the houses are oriented towards the slope to obtain good views and are designed so that negotiations can be established with the neighboring houses to give or win rooms depending on the needs of the users.
