Lloyd’s Building
Designed by Richard Rogers the Lloyds building, sometimes called the Inside Out Building is the youngest structure to ever receive the status of Grade I. It received its reputation in 2011 25 years after its completion in 1986. The building stands at 88metres/289ft with 14 floors.
The Shard
The tallest building in the European Union and the second tallest freestanding structure in the United Kingdom. Known by various names. The Shard, Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formally London Bridge Tower stands 309.6 metres/1,016.000 ft high. This 87 storey skyscraper in Southwark London began its construction in March 2009 and finished March 2012. Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano.
The Gherkin
41 storeys standing 180 metres/591 ft tall. An iconic symbol of London and one of the citys most recognised examples of contemporary architecture. Constructed in 2001, completed in December 2003, opened in April 2004 Lies 30 St Mary Axe (named from the street on the tower) but universally known as The Gherkin and previously Swiss Re BuildingThe Gherkin designed by Norman Foster and Arup Group and contracted by Skanska after plans to build the Millennium Tower were cancelled. The name The Gherkin was intended for the current building back in 1999 referring its unorthodox layout and appearance.
Tower of London
Known as Her Majestys Royal Palace and Fortress. The Tower of London is a historic castle that lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The tower was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 and was used as a prison from 1100 to 1952. Over the years the tower of London has been used for many different things such as a treasure, an armoury, a menagerie, home of the Royal Mint, a public records office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of England.
