Monte Stella As part of the proposal the aim was to keep the main principles applied in the original project by the architect Piero Bottoni for the Quartiere Sperimentale della Triennale di Milano QT8, being these: Experimentation, Inclusion and Reuse. Therefore, the studies of the public and green spaces present in the area were key to identify strengths and weaknesses, and propose urban acupuncture strategies that permit to create a unified perception of the whole area. In order to achieve a sustainable approach, the project reuses a structure present in the site. Through a modular distribution, the concept of “climbing the existing is applied with adaptable and flexible typologies and uses.

The project consisted in the development of a wine production project together with an art museum, both integrated in a very sensitive landscape with a river and high sloped mountains and the best vineyards for the production of the famous Porto wine: the Duoro Valley located near Porto. As a starting point it was considered the production of wine = the production of art, with a transition and learning process in different levels generating through it a series of sensations in relation with light and shadows as well with the surroundings.
2017 | Prof. Camilo Rebelo
The starting concept of the design process is based on the idea of the creation of a landmark. To achieve this the project developed in two directions: vertical and horizontal, both extremely in contrast with the landscape due to their artificial nature. Following these two it was possible to create a new connection on three levels: hills, train station level and waterfront. The final aim of the intervention is to create special places in which to experience the land and the architecture in unique and different ways.

The value of a public space is universal; however, the cultural interpretation of such space is what gives it its identity. HABITAT III HOUSING | RESILIENCY GUAYAQUIL | ECUADOR
In October 2016 Ecuador was the host country for the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (HABITAT III) where the Architecture Faculty of the Universidad de Cuenca took part of the international contest promoted by it, and I was selected to participate in one of the projects. Here I had the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team which included students and experts in the fields of energy, construction, design, landscape and heritage. The project focused on the use of available resources to propose architectonical solutions adaptable to the local surroundings and with respect to local traditions.

COMFORT IN HERITAGE HOUSING | ASSESSMENT | DETAIL CUENCA | ECUADOR
For my undergraduate research thesis I assessed the potential of heritage houses, as sustainable buildings, through tailor-made solutions that would turn them into comfortable buildings for the users based in general principles and concepts that can be replicated in other circumstances. As a result, the historic zone of the city of Cuenca might turn into a zone of sustainable housing contributing to maintaining the compactness of the city, currently with risk of expanding without control. The research scientific paper was published under the name of Comfort Assessment of Heritage Buildings in Cuenca-Ecuador.

LONGITUDINAL SECTION
PHOTORAPHY GRANDMA’S HANDS
I believe right now we live in an era of transition, where it does not exist just one truth and everything is a matter of perspective. Somehow, I strongly consider this should be reflected in architecture and landscape perception. This leads to the question that if historically architecture and landscape design have reflected ambitions and manners of each period, how can these disciplines express the time of “uncertainty” we are living now in? I still do not know the exact answer to this, nonetheless, this keeps me motivated and positive about the present. Experimentation and the courge to try unknown paths drive me day by day to feel and live architecture in a dynamic manner. I come from Latin-America, a place where uncertainty has led to innovative creations and to appreciate the power of adaptation and smart use of resources. We are resilient, and this has guided me throughout my whole life. I am Jose David, an architect, photography lover, reader, curious, and a happy person.
