Project 01: private seaside residence A residence designed for a dutch businessman as a second home. The residence consists of a basement with bedrooms that open out to an amphitheatre landscaped garden with views to the sea. The
basement has an entertainment area
with cinema area, private bar and a double garage with underfloor heating. The
ground floor consists of the entrance
hall, office, living area, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen opens to an outdoor terrace and an additional outdoor kitchen for evening entertainment near the pool and waterfall. The
first floor consists of the master
bedroom and the bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms. All bedrooms have a balcony with 180ยบ seaviews.
The
staircase and lift connect with the roof terrace area that contains a canvas covered area for the hotwater tub and barbeque area for late evening dining. The roof terrace has 360ยบ views of the surrounding shoreline and landscape. The residence was considered by a national magazine as the most expensive villa in the country, valued at
euros.

Project 02: refurbishment of private
seaside residence
refurbishment of an existing outbuilding with 2 floors that The brief asked for the
would become a new guest and entertainment wing to the main existing residence. The refurbishment also envolved the demolishing of the existing pool area and the creation of a new entertainment outdoor area for lounging around the pool area. The new refurbishment proposed 3 new guest bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the
lower level. All the bedrooms
open out towards the pool area. The
upper level contains an entertainment living area with bar and a fly-over wooden bridge to the existing residence. An additional roof terrace was created at the existing residence for viewing the fantastic 180ยบ seaviews.
Project 03: demolish existing and new
build private seaside residence The
sketch design proposal was done
under one week for a dutch client that flew in from Amsterdam. The client was looking for a quick investment proposal to add to his propery portfolio in the Algarve. The brief answered the
client’s program
and proposed a solution that was a licensing problem by placing the pool at the roof terrace level. This also helped to liberate the plot for a much needed landscaping area. The solution also benefited the great seaviews from the rooftop level. The client was very pleased with the design and also with the short time taken to develop the design. The program of the residence comprises a basement, ground floor and the rooftop pool area. The design also had to adhere to a strict budget imposed by the client in order to benefit from his investment.
