Teamwork is something I have lived with every day since I was little. It is one of the main values that sport teaches you and that is emphasized with the architecture career. I have had the opportunity to be part of very good teams, even to manage some of them, and I can assure you that I have learned a lot from each and every one. Sports, traveling, photography, art, music and graphic design are other of my passions, apart from architecture.

CONCEPT ‘Along the path’ is not a project in itself. It can be described as a villa generator system, which allows users to create infinite combinations by changing the position of the modules.

STRATEGY The solution adopted consists in producing specific functional modules such as the bathroom ‘A’, living room ‘B’, double room ‘C’, single room ‘D’ or the sauna ‘E’, wich are distributed among the trees, adopting the best position, and creating a set of intermidiate spaces that can be opened to the outside. The platforms on which these modules are deposited are fluid like the path of a river, getting to inhabit all kinds of spaces.

MUSÉE 75011

A CONTEMPORARY MUSEUM IN THE HEART OF PARIS PROFESSORS: VINCEN CORNU, BRUNO GAUDIN & M. AFANASSIEFF / ENSAPLV TYPE: CULTURAL YEAR: 2018 SITE: 82 BOULEVARD VOLTAIRE, 75011 PARIS, FRANCE

| 15

16 | DESCRIPTION

SHORTCUT In the 11e arrondissement of Paris, in front of St Ambroise’s church, there is an urban vacuum of more than 3000 square meters. The site connects Boulevard Richard-Lenoir and Boulevard Voltaire, two of the most important avenues in the neighborhood. The building is located next to the north side of the plot, leaving a tree-lined pedestrian street that connects the two avenues. The exhibition halls fragment the large volume of more than 130 meters and divide the interior space into different rooms. Access to the museum is presented under a large entrance cantilever that reduces the scale of the building and organizes the different functions.

PROGRAM The museum is organized into two main sectors located on both sides of the entrance hall. On the right side there are the permanent exhibitions. The rooms are designed and sized to display the pieces in the best possible way. The ceilings have different heights and the lighting varies from room to room. On the left side is the administrative area, with offices for staff and a small auditorium on the upper floor.

STRUCTURE The structure of the museum has been fully calculated and dimensioned with the help of the software ‘SAP2000’. The building is designed with concrete walls and joist and vault floors. Overhead lighting is achieved thanks to the prefabricated honeycomb slabs. The construction details have been expressly designed for this project and reviewed by David Gallardo Llopis, a professional from the company ESTRUCTURAS SINGULARES. THE BULLRING

22 |

RECONVERSION OF THE SPANISH HISTORICAL HERITAGE COMPETITION: BULLRIGN IN TANGIER / PROMOTED BY THE TANGIER CITY COUNCIL TYPE: MIXED USE TEAM: GASPARE DANIELI, JORGE FALOMIR & J. IGNACIO BALAGUER SITE: TANGIER, MOROCCO

| 23

24 | STRATEGY The Tangier city council announced a contest to rethink the use of the last bullring in Africa. It is a legacy left by the Spanish colonies when Morocco was part of Spain. The building is located in the suburbs of Tangier, near the highway that connects Tangier with Tetouan, and is a mainly residential area with no public space or commerce. The proposal consists of taking part of the city center of Tangier to this new bullring. By introducing rectangular buildings in a circular perimeter, interesting intermediate spaces and good urban connections are achieved. One of the main ideas was to use the covers of the new volumes as gardens and public squares.

| 25 CONSTRUCTION The structure and steps of the original building are used for the new project. The exterior volume is still cylindrical to evoke that old bullring and the entire circulation occurs in the golden ring formed by brisoleils decorated with Arabic motifs. These metal pieces can be opened and closed depending on where the sun hits the most, to improve the interior quality. This golden ring “levitates over glass screens, causing people to walk through the building. The circular platforms are projected independent of the interior buildings, which have a new structure. These buildings are designed according to their interior use. There are cinema, theater, exhibition halls, restaurants, cowokings, cafes, shops and information points.
