Los verbos modales son un área compleja de la Gramática Inglesa. La principal función de los verbos modales es permitir que el hablante o el escritor den su opinión, expresen su actitud o propongan algo. Estas actitudes pueden cubrir un amplio rango de posibilidades que incluyen obligación, pedir o dar permiso, desaprobación, aconsejar, deducción lógica, habilidad, posibilidad, necesidad, ausencia de necesidad, etc. El problema con los verbos modales es que pueden tener más de un significado, y la interpretación de un modal en particular dependerá más en el contexto en el cual se utiliza. Así que en esta guía trataremos de no entrar en mucho detalle, pero si tener una idea general de su función en la oración y de sus significados más utilizados.

Can
