Curriculum Vitae – Joseph James Alenchery
Joseph James Alenchery Environmental Designer, Architect Some of us go our entire lives without ever being inspired. Those of us lucky enough to sample it, are forever indebted to pass it on. The last two years of my professional life were spent juggling between expanding not only my experience and knowledge; but also, of a generation of student architects. Teaching isn’t a walk in the park, and nothing we do can prepare us for the pleasant surprises that accompany the job. Nevertheless, it gives you room to grow; because only when you must explain to a child, is your knowledge truly tested. This led to me to put together knowledge gained through my time as an Architect in Kuwait, and India, and my time studying Environmental Design at Bath; to try and create a tailor-made coursework for students of various years. The focus of the coursework was to help them hone their skills and understand the relationship between man and nature; while allowing me to maintain a slow, but steady practice of design and construction out in the real world. A practice that aimed at putting the clients needs, and finances above my own impulse to design.
