House of Meditation Project Narrative This building consists of cells to house residents and professors, and offers each of them a distinct framed view of the city of Denver.
4
Window positions oscillate by layer, and the overhanging moments can provide secondary spaces to interact with below. These spaces function as the meditative space, where the user is seperated and faces only the surrounding natural and built environment. The chaos of Denver is counterracted by the Cherry creek and surrounding parks, which the building faces. By the act of seperation the building can accomodate a path to the creek. Two bridges unite these seperate wings, creating a unified structure. Upon entering the ground floor, the communal activities are housed around a central staircase. This space has areas for eating, advising, and interaction. The next four levels are for occupation and academics.

Media Tech

Media Tech for Lubbock Project Narrative This project was intendede to provide the citizens of Lubbock with a “Media Tech” for audio, visual, and physical archive materials.
8
The buildings rise from the ground and continue underneath the ground to connect to each other. By having the majority of the building underground, the media tech becomes a “shelter” for knowlege. My layout for the complex utilized a diagonal grid system that oriented the buildings toward the new development happening in downtown Lubbock. Each projection from the underground tunnel system offers a unique view and different services.

The facade of the building is a mask that disguises the intervention within the building with the surrounding historic urban fabric. The building is located within Old Montreal, which is dense with historical buildings and public spaces. This building respects the historical landscape it sits upon with a form that extends datum lines from the neighboring buildings. These tether the faรงade to the surrounding urban landscape. Another important function is the extension of public space. The entrance is recessed beneath the extended outline of the facade. This volume carved out from the faรงade creates a sheltered threshold.

Canyon House Project Narrative
This project was centered around becoming proficient with Revit. Each section of the assignment centered on learning and applying a new skill.
12
Ransom Canyon in Lubbock, Texas served as the site, which provided several topographical challenges. My design embraced the complicated canyon landscape by extending a cantilevered porch over the ravine. The interior features a double height ceiling and a wraparound staircase that leads to an interior loft and an exterior balcony. The roof overhang provides shelter for a large porch on the ground floor. Punched windows and a glass curtain wall frame views of the canyon. A glass curtain wall punctures through the roof of the first floor and reaches the roof of the second level. Steel I-beams create a colonnade as well as serving as structural columns.

Parallel Laminae Project Narrative
This building is a symbolic representation of the landscape being studied within through its layered form that mimics the geological features of the area.
16
A layered form will stratify the programs while also serving as an organizational force. Just like soil, the bottom layer will hold the research and thesis students who have been there the longest. There are several axes that assist in regulating the space and represent shifts in geological features. The cladding of this form will consist of layered earth-toned concrete panels that change as they travels upwards further reminding the users of the natural earth around them. On the roof, natural plant life can inhabit this form and serve as an icon of the semi-arid landscape. Inside, the building will use earthen materials and mass to create an experience tied to the earth. It interacts with the site by gradually elevating from the ground, appearing as core samples of the earth beneath being extruded.

“A great building must begin with the unmeasurable, must go through measurable means when it is being designed and in the end must be unmeasurable. - Louis Kahn
