Diversity Day: Making Connections

ebuting at Newnham campus on 1 March 2011, Seneca’s first Diversity Day attracted over 120 registrants, including administrators, faculty and staff. The context of our diverse student population was established by Amy Gaukel’s keynote address on the “1st Year Student Experience,” followed by a rich variety of presentations and workshops. Such offerings as
“Effects of Violence on Learning,” “Mental Health and the Language of Respect,” “Positive Space” and “The Millennials” challenged participants to expand their understanding of diversity beyond language, culture and race. The program was enhanced by a series of
