What is the Skilled Independent Visa? The Skilled Independent Visa or the Visa 189 for Australia is the visa that allows a skilled individual to work and live in Australia permanently if he or she does not have any sponsorship from an Australian employer or nomination from a family member or nomination from a state/territory government.
