Hacking into the Filmic World 2021 Single channel HD video, sound, color, 11’30”, drawing, text, exhibition Winner of Arts Council England National Lottery Grant

This project seeks to respond to the central question of Johanna Hedva’s “sick women theory”, what is an alternative way to protest against gender inequalities when physical protest is not an option? Two events have been conducted over the year to enable alternative feminism advocacy in China and in the UK. The first part is an ongoing service started in December 2020-” Hacking into the filmic world’. Films in China are highly censored and rhetoric. The narrative of a good woman changes over varying policies. A set of tools have been developed; alternating filmic elements and narratives. With these tools, I have collaborated with more than 15 women to hack into films to change the narratives of good women and advocate for their rights in the filmic worlds. The second part of the project experiments with occupying “meanwhile spaces” in London for feminism advocacy. Many high street shops in London have been left vacant since the start of Covid. With this sentiment, I have received a Project Grant from the Arts Council England to create an inclusive space for feminist discourse and advocacy with installation and artworks from myself and other feminist artists in London. This year-long project will allow me to facilitate between a variety of stakeholders, these include local communities, artists, architects and councils. The exhibition opens on the 1st of Oct 2021. Church of the Valley 2017 6 months architectural assistant internship Design Development

During my placement at Junya Ishigami + Associates, I was exposed to a wide range of projects from concept design to design development. Part of the office’s ethos was to constantly iterate the design and ultimately produce a highly considered space. One way in which we achieved space was through exploration in model-making techniques. The model presented in this portfolio stands over 2 meters high which was braced by recycled cardboard inside.

Under the Blanket 2019 Architectural Proposal

The project is a redevelopment for a small school in an affluent area of Guatemala City, specializing in educating children that have been diagnosed with autism. Guatemala once formed the core of the Maya civilization, an ancient society steeped in mythology and storytelling. Ruins such as Tikal still hold an atmosphere of curiosity, spaces that conjure the imagination and entice oneself to wonder and explore, imagine and deduce. This is a characteristic that I pursued during this project.

Autistic children demand highly visceral and vivid sensorial spaces. These spaces physically and metaphorically wrap oneself in colour or form in order to create spaces of security. Autistic children have an instinctive nature to hide or seek shelter in the confines of their own security. Architectural elements such as lighting, tactility, and orientation are key to providing spaces for the children and their special needs. The redevelopment, therefore, aims to address these elements to provide a visceral space whilst learning from Tikal to create spaces of wonder and charm.

Archive Of Tangier 2018 Architectural Proposal

The Moroccan city of Tangier sits between civilisations through colonisations. From the Phoenicians and Romans to the English and French. Each civilisation left traces that were apparent to the city. Travelling in the city makes one feel like travelling between times. This project imagines the “timescape” of the city to capture the mesmerising and fragmented quality of tangier. This project proposes an archive, re-Staging objects that shape the city. The visitors are invited on a journey of digging into the underground. This proposal aims to achieve three architectural principles.

Descending Always going downwards, a linear passage to reveal the past of the city.

Moment of pause Moving between each level involves a motion of turning, in consequence, a moment of pause and contemplation has been created.

Displaying The function of displaying carries through the building from the entrance to the bottom level. Utilizing the existing walls to display objects collected in the city, to the bottom level where the archaeological remains are displayed to reveal the Roman civilization.
