- Flexibility These models have a maleable, paper thin appearance to them. They fold and curve over themselves. - Elegance There is a lightness about these models. Almost like origami, there is an order to them, like folded geometries. - Materiality A semi-transparent green surface contributes to the apparent lightness of these models. They could be blown over by a light breeze.

THREE_CURVES
- Flexibility These wave like models lunge from the earth into the air - wrapping around invisible objects. - Elegance These models are heavy set. There is a sense that they are strongly attached to the ground plain. Yet there is a strength about them, making bold statements as they extend upwards from there bearings. - Materiality Oxidised copper forms the rugged, yet intricate surface of these models. It gives them a depth, which they might not otherwise posses.

FOUR_CURVES
- Flexibility These wide spanning walls curve around themselves to form cave like spaces. The horizontal walls reach vertically over themselves to form shelter-like spaces. - Elegance These models have a poise about theAm. Balanced and weighed evenly. - Materiality A generic cherry wood is the surface of these walls. It gives them a stability and sturdiness. Aesthetically, the surface appears smooth and mimics the contours of the walls.
TRIANGULATION 3D POPULATE_VORONOL
- Complexity/Intricacy Random geometries form as pieces of each rectangle are removed. Sliding cliff-like faces and angular voids generate the appearance of a contemporary urban building. - Elegance These blocky models are solid, bold and steardy. - Materiality A grassy roof texture references some contemporary urban architectural ideas, grounding these models in a possible reality.

POPULATE_OCTREE
- Complexity/Intricacy The appearance of geometric three or four-storey buildings is created through the use of the OCTREE parameter following an arched curve. - Elegance These models are rectilinear and simple, yet aesthetically pleasing in there boxy geometry. - Materiality A transparent red glass prevents these models from presenting as oppressive, brutalist or overwhelming. Light is able to infiltrate the envelope of the structure and highlight the leaves within, create

DELAUNAY_VORONOI_METABALL - Complexity/Intricacy The combination of these parameters generates both geometric and organic patterns.

HEXAGRID_RADIALGRID_METABALL - Complexity/Intricacy The hexagonal grid combined with tools such as the radial grid and metaball create intricate and perhaps illusory patterns.

How are these outcomes different to models created using other software programs? - Complexity is created by imputing parametric rules. Therefore, forms such as below are able to be generated without tedious manual drawing. Grasshopper allows for computation while other software such as Auto-cad, Sketch-up or Rhino might only allow for computerisation. How can material usage and efficiency be thought about when making architecture like this? - While the models below represent whole forms, they consist of ‘multiple parts’ or boxes. These boxes might represent real world materials and therefore we can begin to consider how one might actually construct architecture like this. One may consider the efficiency of the structure in terms of material waste, labour time, strength and resilience.

- Complexity/Intricacy The smoothing of this geometric form results in an unusual form. It appears organic with stringy ends where the geometry narrows. Perhaps it may also appears like the trunk of an elephant. - Elegance These models have a muscular appearance. They are dense and steardy. The models become less familiar and more alien as smoothing increases. - Materiality A darker material emphasises the dense stature of these forms.

TRIANGULATION
- Complexity/Intricacy Points are set within the boundary of an obscure organic form. The delaunay edges component results in a complex network of angular, pointy and vertically oriented lines. - Elegance This model appears tangled despite the use of only straight lines. It suggests a strong upward motion almost like tough weeds sprouting from the earth. - Materiality An orange coat perhaps gives this form an industrial identity. There is a sense that it is metallic, made of steel and cannot be moved or stretched laterally.

- Complexity/Intricacy
- Elegance
- Resemblance of a shelf
The extruded surface is overly complex. There is an excess of thin extruded elements. It should be further culled and simplified for the sake of a shelf.
This form is highly abstracted with extruded elements jutting though a curved surface. Despite the complexity of the model, it has a balance about it. There is a sense that it could stand independently. It is also aesthetically stimulating.
Horizontal platforms fulfil the role of a shelving system. A light timber material creates a realistic impression that this model is a piece of house furniture.

IMAGE_SAMPLING SAMPLED IMAGE: OVERHEAD POWER LINES This image is provocative as it represents the overhead power-lines which scar the Ceres market skyline. These coal fuelled power lines seem to represent the antithesis of the Ceres environmental ethos.
Cones - Complexity/Intricacy The use of cones generates a dynamic effect, where changing radius create different densities of objects. However, the uniformity of the cones creates a sense of order. - Elegance Like rows of pine trees, this model creates the effect of a scaled model of a forest landscape. Angular shadows are cast upon the ground. - Clarity of sampled image While the sampled image is abstracted, lightness and darkness are clearly readable in this model.

Cylinders - Complexity/Intricacy There is an evenness about this model. It is almost rectilinear despite the use of cylinders. - Elegance Extruded cylinders create the impression of a raised platform. This model seems pixelated and comes across as digital. - Clarity of sampled image The horizontal power lines can be quite easily read in this model. The shadows in this model emphasise the blocking or obstruction of light and relate back to the Ceres power-lines on a conceptual level.
