VEGETATION

vegetation is viewed as the top-most layer of our model because its resiliency has allowed ruderal species to re-inhabit this contaminated site, taking the form of past transportation corridors

STOCKPILES

these stockpiles, as seen sitting on top of the ground plane, are representative of a site too abused to be used for anything but continued idustrial use

RAILROAD CORRIDORS

in this post-industrial site, the railroad corridors remain, represented by the hollow corridors across the site. They are also represented by screen to indicate the compaction the trains left

BUILDING REMNANTS

the building remnants are represented by two colors. Yellow is representative of building footprints only, while the red, as modeled as layers on top, represents the remaining structure existing

BASE (WITH WATER)

the black screen represents the physical ground-level, while allowing to see the true ‘base’ of the site, with pollutants stocked underground, as well as the polluted (and reflective) water body

POLLUTANTS

the pollutants, represented by black composite material, are seen in concentrations, lurking just below the visible surface yet still affecting the quality of that surface
