I am currently in my third undergraduate year of studying Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield. From a young age, I have always been interested in the outdoor environment, nature and design. The study of Landscape Architecture has given me the opportunity to combine these interests, so that my enthusiasm for these issues is becoming a passion. I was first captivated by this profession when choosing to undertake a landscape based ‘Extended Project Question’ during my first year of A-Levels. The aim of this project was to redevelop a series of old farm buildings along with the surrounding landscape, transforming it into a public nature reserve accessible to the local residents. However, my interests currently lie in the integration of humans and landscape in a predominantly urban realm. With a growing urban population, I see it as our responsibility as Landscape Architects to create urban environments that accommodate both people and nature, allowing both our cities and inhabitants to breathe and flourish. This portfolio displays a selection of work from my undergraduate studies (Year 2- Present). It aims to show the breadth of projects I have worked on as well as the variety of skills I have developed.

Brief
A community based housing scheme project situated in Kelham Island next to the River Don. This high-density housing project was inspired by the social cohesion associated with the ‘Triangle’ housing project located in Swindon, integrating both public, semi-public and private land.

Vision
My driving ethos, creating an extraordinary ordinary community, will to shape new perspectives on how inner-city living can become community based. Its inbuilt sustainability, whether this be social, economic or environmental will allow this low impact development to accommodate individals’ financial and cultural differences, creating a strong sense of social cohesion.

02. Planting Design
Brief
A Flowing Harmony of Mysticism
Photomontage
Shady mix
As part of an integrated parkland design proposal, we were required to create a planting scheme that surrounded the redevelopment and transformation of the existing fire station.
Vision To provide a place that inspires contemplation, provokes self-surrender and stimulates the imagination through an atmospherically and naturalistic planting scheme.
Grass mix The cross section extends over 3 perennial borders. 1. Sun tolerant perennials 2. Shade tolerant perennials 3. Shade perennial mix
Bulb mix
Visualisations
Thresholds connecting semipublic and public spaces are both permeable and minimal. Once inside the site, one is met by the compact interconnecting perennial drifts that gracefully interconnect with the swaying grassland.
Lead up to the elliptical theatre. Path cutting through dense erect perennial borders. Expansive perennial drifts are replicated throughout the planting scheme.
Planting schedule
Betula nigra- surrounded by grasses, May- September.
Seasonal development Grasses surrounding theatre in June.
Betula pendula, surrounded by grasses, November- March.
Grasses turning increasingly brown late November.
Planting plan
Grasses replaced by bulbs planted in mid-January.
03. Construction Design Theatre Deli- Porter Brook
Brief
A series of construction details accompanied by a plan help to explain how the landscape at Porter Brook outside the Theatre Deli would be built. They aim to show below ground detailing and specification, as well as the inclusion of the following landscape elements; steps, retaining structure, surfacing, drainage and river access/daylighting. All measurement and detailing work in conjunction with the Disability Discrimination Act.
04. Ecological Design and Management Ecological design and management
Vision “Woodthorpe ravine, a green safe haven for all to enjoy We are striving towards the creation of a communal public space, in which we will enhance the quality of life inside and outside the site, improving not only the environmental quality and natural habitats within, but also the standard of living for the local communities on the outside. It will provide Woodthorpe ravine with a strong sense of identity as well as the park itself representing a recognisable landmark within Sheffield.

Vision The creation of a private house and gardens, combining practical design with transitional naturalistic and formal planting.

07. Landscape Exploration and Intervention A reflective remedy
Vision
Reective remedy is very much a transitionary space, with enclosed areas branching off from the main axes of the design, enabling people to experience the solitude and confinement that city life often fails to offer.
Visualisations
