INTRODUCTION Hello, My name is Joshua S. Petersen. I am a Graphic Designer who currently studies at Weber State University. Over the years I have grown to love design and its ability to create messages through image. As a designer I found that I prefer to design simple
so it allows the concept to take the center stage. I also enjoy movement as I think movement in a piece doesn’t just create excitement but allows the viewer to explore the everything on the design

URBANO IDENTITY

APP DESIGN
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
To create a Food truck or Restaurant Identity that will have some sort of unique vibe. This company will need to be able to attract young adults in a city environment that doesnt have a lot of time. The project will inculde an Identity, Menu Design and Phone Application.
The concept of this project was to encompass the emotion and atmosphere of an urban environment. To do this I used simple elements to adjust the logo type in ways that would create a small hint of a rugged cityscape. This concept is also placed into the secondary mark which also takes the shape of a street taco.

Project NUTRIC
NUTRIC BRANDING
PRODUCT DESIGN
ADVERTISING
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
To create a brand of energy drinks that would pull away from the traditional allocations of energy drinks. This project needs to include product design and an advertisement campaign that helps emphasize the concept of the drink
I found that most energy drinks are considered to be very unhealthy and high in calories. To counter the norm i created a design for an energy drink that focused on cleaner, healthier standards. The idea of pumping out bad energy with clean energy.

Project DENDRITE
DENDRITE IDENTITY
BOARD DESIGN
PROBLEM
For this project I wanted to create a snowboarding company that would theoretically be created in the state of Utah. I found that locals are very passionate and proud of having the best snow on earth. I wanted to demonstrate the pride of our mountains and snow in the design.
ADVERTISING
SOLUTION To find the correct solution to this design I decided to dig deep into finding out why we have better snow than a lot of other states or countries. I found that Utah is a breeding ground for what they call the perfect storm. They call these the perfect storms because
they create the right amount of dryness to create Dendrite crystals, and these dendrite crystals make some of the best powdery snow in the world.

CULTURE EXPERIMENT
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
To create a unique brand that creates a way to express a small sub-culture that exists in the car community. Cars are one of my passions and influences a lot in my designs. So I wanted a way to express that through design.
This is still a work in progress and I want to add to it in the future. The name Spirit of the Mountain was as close as I could get to expressing the emotion of a person becoming one with there car. Two entities becoming one spirit as it drifts through
the mountain. The spirit (Seishin) or self being, is what the Japanese text says in the middle. The circle is based off of the zen circle which is known in the Japanese culture as complete enlightenment or wholeness of the soul.

Project ILLUSTRATIONS
ILLUSTRATIONS INTRODUCTION These are a selection of some of the illustrations I have done over the semesters in college. Each followed specific requirements given by the professor to be completed. Each illustration was started by doing research on each topic, creating the concept then going into sketches. Those
sketches then became refined into roughs and finally into completed pieces. Each illustration was created on an Ipad Pro with the Ipad pencil, I would use the application Procreate and then take it into Illustrator to refine it.
This project was to illustrate a gig poster for a band or musician of our choosing. I went with the Australian DJ Knife Party.
Project ILLUSTRATIONS
This project was for a newspaper down in Lehi, Utah and was to help create awareness of the feral cats killing off the turkeys in the turkey farms.
This project is a book cover for an imaginary book called the ball. Its about a little girl running out into the road with an old man driving home from work.

Both of these Illustrations were part of a series of editorial illustrations. I chose the subject of revealing the faults of the world superpowers.
