The Elephant Parade
Joseph is the proudest elephant in all of India! Every year he leads the parade and brings joy to all who watch him and he has never missed a parade because he is such a hard worker.
But Joseph has one weakness. BANANAS! He loves Bananas.
One day on the morning of the parade Joseph was enjoying a lovely breakfast of bananas, bananas and more bananas.
As he walked away to get ready with the rest of his herd, he didn’t see a banana skin (he had left on the floor, which was very naughty).
All of a sudden he SLIPPED!
And Joseph came down with a CRASH!
Joseph had broken his leg, how could he lead the parade now?
?
Joseph was very sad and disappointed but then a Peacock swooped down to ask what was wrong. The peacock stroked Joseph with his feathers and made him feel a little better‌
But Joseph still has a problem, who will lead the parade?
Then he has an idea and tells the peacock to go to his daughter Petal and give her a message.
“You must lead the Parade!”
Petal was so excited she went to tell her friend Aadi but he was NOT happy! He wanted to lead the parade because his name meant first and foremost!
Petal was a kind and considerate elephant and she said: “We can both lead the parade, you can lead the bulls and I will lead the cows.
They agreed and they went to their mahouts for decoration and howdahs.
They also had a very big drink!
Finally the parade started and was magnificent with two elephant leaders!
And they all lived happily ever after with Joseph.
