DESIGN APPROACH
On the global scenery, Architecture is played on a two way facade. On one hand, we have the avant-garde designs by “starchitects” which are very expensive and sometimes inefficient, lacking the core functionalities. On the other hand, we get boring ordinary repetitive boxes that clearly indicates it to have been copy-pasted with little to no considerations to site constraints and conditions. The economic situation of our region (Africa) has shown that we cannot keep on investing crazy amount of resources on the aesthetical part of the architecture only. At the same time we do not want our cities to turn into fields of identical boxes. I believe in the duty we have as architects and the power of design as a tool to achieve synergy between the best part of the two entities and birth a functional yet individual architecture thus simplifying our lifestyle as a society.
“
‘In the big picture, architecture is the art and science of making sure that our cities and buildings fit with the way we want to live our lives’. -Bjarke Ingels

FIRST PREMIERE HOTEL THREE STAR HOTEL
Abuja being the capital city of Nigeria is currently experiencing a tremendous influx of persons which has prompt land owners to make the most of the available land. ‘First Premiere Hotel’ is an attempt of making the most of the available land as a recreational hub and a home away from home with emphasis on the user experience, climatic comfort and land utilisation. The design covers all the requirements as per survey and government guidelines for city planning.

WINBROOK TERRACE HOUSING COMPLEX
In recent years, the Niger State government built and commissioned several public housing units to address the housing deficit within the state and to cater for its growing workforce regarding housing provisions. Among these housing projects are the MI Wushishi and Talba Housing estates, which comprises of twobedroom and three-bedroom cottages. “Winbrook Terrace”, a proposed phase II development of the Talba Estate, Minna approaches the design with a focus on utilising the abundance of land for the needed number of apartments and blocks of flats with regards to the sociocultural background of the residents/intended occupants as well as ease of construction.

SNACK BOX
CONTAINER CAFE
Container architecture is fast becoming the preferred system of quick construction, thus when the need arose for a fast food joint close to the American University of Nigeria Campus (A.U.N), the concept of “snack box” was birthed. This Container Café is intended to be a start-up business that promotes the snack and coffee culture of our afrocentric society. It spreads out vertically, seating almost 20 guests along its 12m container span and has been crafted to be flexible and adaptable according to various locations if need be.

ZAURE
GUEST LOUNGE
As a pillar of his community and a newly instituted traditional title holder, this home owner demands that a new space be designed uniquely purposed for receiving guests that may not be close to the family. “Zaure”, which serves as the ante-room in the traditional Hausa Architecture is employed in this regard to denote the guest lounge and entertainment section of the mansion. This includes a fully furnished meeting room with complimentary rest rooms and a patio suitable for early evening outdoor relaxation and snacks.
