Update: Melita customers in Gozo and the north of Malta, had their services disrupted this afternoon, when when one of Melita’s “key fibre cables” in the North of Malta was damaged by a third party contractor working on the coast road project, at around 3.35pm, the company said. Melita said that all customers in the North of Malta, and Gozo were likely to suffer from limited or no services for Television, Internet, Telephony and Mobile. Services in the Bugibba area was resumed first at around 5.30pm, and services in all other localities are expected to resume gradually over the following couple of hours, the company said. The service in Gozo started to resume just after 7.30pm. “Whilst we apologise for the inconvenience, please rest assured that our technicians were quickly on site to perform repairs as fast as possible, Melita said.

One of Melita's key fibre cables in the North of Malta was damaged by a third party contractor performing works on the Coast Road project at 3.30pm, resulting in loss of service in the north of Malta and in Gozo. The company said all customers in the affected zones may be suffering from limited or no services for Television, Internet, Telephony and Mobile. The service was restored in full at.8.30pm.

Over 11,000 MyMelita App downloads
The MyMelita app for smartphones and tablets has been downloaded over 11,000 times in just three months since it became available on the iTunes Store and Google Play. The free app is unique for Malta and the telecommunications industry. MyMelita enables Melita customers to manage their account for both prepaid and postpaid subscriptions for mobile, internet, television and fixed telephony services. “The feedback has been amazing and we are witnessing a month-on-month increase in self-care usage via the MyMelita app. Typically, our customers use the app to check balances, bundle quotas, registered devices, store locations, view bills and payments. “Completely developed in-house by Melita’s technology team, this app was part of our multi-million euro investment in a new, converged billing and CRM system,” said Malcolm Briffa, director of PR and customer experience. New features are constantly being added to the app.
