Company briefs Go first in Malta to use Spotify Digital creative agency BRND WGN has unveiled a Spotify advertising campaign for Go, the first time any brand has used this platform to advertise in Malta. The award-winning music streaming platform, Spotify, became available in Malta two years ago and has quickly gained popularity among the young generation, giving on-demand access to over 30 million tracks. “Spotify is the biggest music platform in Malta, with almost a quarter of the entire population using the free ad-funded service,” said BRND WGN media director Lisa Browning. Spotify offers the advantage of allowing engaging ad formats, such as video in a clutter-free environment on both mobile and desktop. It also boasts formats which guarantee 100 per cent visibility such as the billboard display advert which shows up whenever users return from five minutes of idle activity.

GO is Best TV Provider, says Best Buy Tuesday, 30 June 2015, 20:35
GO has won a Best Buy Award for offering the best value for money digital television service for both local and international tv channels in Malta. The award was based on an independent survey on a representative sample of the Maltese population carried out by Swiss organisation Icertias. ICERTIAS (International Certification Association), measures consumers' experience and satisfaction regarding the price-quality ratio of marketed products and services. The questions in the Best Buy Award research were open-ended and results therefore represent the personal experience and perception of consumers. Kurt Camilleri, Chief Commercial Officer at GO, said, "There has never been a better time to join Malta's best TV provider. GO continues to invest in both content and technology to offer the best in sports, movies and TV drama. At the same time, we deliver a range of unique interactive services including TV Anywhere which gives customers the opportunity to watch their favourite programmes from their mobile devices. Through our innovative Limitless Home Pack bundles, GO is also able to offer all of this at a reasonable price." GO's interactive TV service, offering record, pause, rewind, catch-up and restart services, is available to existing GO Home Pack customers for an additional €5 monthly. TV packages for new GO customers start from €21.99 a month.

Use a cheque and you will pay more Another money-spinner is in the pipeline! I have just had word from Melita that our future bills will have a surcharge if we persist in submitting payment by cheque! I wonder how many subscribers do not possess a computer, or do not wish to use the Internet to pay bills. I should think this might apply to a good number of older people, especially pensioners, whose income is already stretched. Shame on you, Melita!

Melita rolling out faster mobile internet
Tuesday, 30 June 2015, 20:07
The current phase of Melita's five-year â‚Ź70 million investment program is focusing on developing its mobile network to 3G+. Customers will benefit from this upgraded mobile network by means of a faster mobile internet service, with speeds reaching up to 42Mbps on mobile. This upgrade will complement the melitaWIFI service which already delivers speeds of up to 100Mbps. The first localities that have been upgraded to 42Mbps mobile internet speeds include popular social and entertainment areas such as Valletta, Sliema, and Paceville. Pay monthly customers subscribed to plans such as 'The One' are already benefitting from these faster mobile internet speeds. "As more services move to the internet, we are continuing with our aggressive investment program to ensure that Melita remains the broadband provider of choice. Maltese consumers and businesses have already voted Melita as the 'Best Buy Award' for both fixed and wireless internet. Through our next generation melitaWIFI services, customers already benefit from speeds of up to 100Mbps without needing new expensive phones and without bill shocks thanks to our 10GB data bundles. All this will now be complemented by fast 42Mbps speeds over the 3G+ network", commented Andrei Torriani, CEO at Melita. Mobile networking giant Ericsson has been selected for the mobile network upgrade. Speed upgrades are being rolled out regularly in various localities and will continue over the coming months.
