Vodafone Malta Foundation donates €5,900 to the Inspire Foundation for Internet Connectivity Project Wednesday, 2 September 2015, 19:29
The Vodafone Malta Foundation has recently donated €5,900 to the Inspire Foundation for Inclusion to finance a comprehensive internet connectivity project at Inspire's Therapeutic Centre in Marsascala. This project will consist of the installation of a network at Marsascala that will provide state-of-the-art internet connectivity for staff as well as clients using the services offered by this Centre, which houses Inspire's therapeutic and leisure centre and which currently offers its services to over 250 children with special needs. This project is one of the first in the Vodafone Malta Foundation's Mobile for Good programme, which seeks to use the liberating power of technology to mobilise and deliver social change. "This project will have a significant positive effect on the level and quality of services which we can offer to our clients," said Antonello Gauci, Chief Executive of Inspire. "Full internet connectivity means that the children attending this centre will be able to get the most out of the computers and tablets which we routinely use therapeutically, particularly when we work with children with autism. In addition, providing constant and easy access to the internet for our staff means that we can keep up to date with the latest research in this field and increase our efficiency all round."

Excise tax on telecoms I refer to letters published in the Times of Malta and would like to clarify matters. In the 2015 Budget, excise tax on mobile services increased from three to four per cent, effective from January 1, 2015. In the case of Go pre-paid customers, this excise tax is deducted once, when the customers’ prepaid balance is topped up. The remaining pre-paid balance can be used by the customer for any other service or offer. Go is currently offering one gigabyte of mobile data for €6 monthly, which would be the amount deducted from one’s pre-paid balance should customers decide to avail themselves of this offer. There are no further charges once the respective bundle has been bought. For more information on excise tax on mobile services, customers are encouraged to visitwww.go.com.mt/faqs where all the amounts, net of excise taxes, are clearly explained.

New upgrades announced for MyMelita app The latest app version now offers real-time monitoring and control functions for subscribers to control their fixed and mobile telephony service usage. 2 September 2015, 2:56pm
Melita has launched two functionality upgrades to the MyMelita app designed to provide Melita subscribers with more control over their account and easier access to Malta’s largest outdoor Wi-Fi network - MelitaWIFI. The latest app version now offers real-time monitoring and control functions for subscribers to control their fixed and mobile telephony service usage. The usage records are available for all contracts and subscriptions: pre-paid, hybrid or pay-monthly plans. App users are also free to choose the level of detail they wish to know, ranging from the balance of available free minutes to downloadable itemised call records. A second functionality upgrade provides information about MelitaWIFI outdoor zones around Malta and Gozo using the GPS function in-built into a mobile phone or tablet. The app will identify a users exact location via GPS and suggest the closest MelitaWIFI outdoor zones. App users will also be able to search for MelitaWIFI outdoor zones within the proximity of their desired destinations. The app will also help users to control the use of their mobile data packages and to modify their registered devices for outdoor Wi-Fi services. In addition to recent functionality upgrades, the MyMelita app offers a convenient, always-on, one-stop service for information about SMS and Data bundles, mobile top-ups, payments, service queries, billing details and more, without the need to call or email a customer care representative. Over 15,000 users have already downloaded the MyMelita app since launch. The free app is unique for Malta and the telecommunications industry because it brings together both prepaid and postpaid subscriptions for Mobile, Internet, Television and fixed Telephony services. The MyMelita app is available for free download from Google Play store for Android Smartphones running v2.3 or better via this link: www.melita.com/MyMelitaAndroid. iPhone and iPad users running iOS v7.0 or better can download the app from iTunes Store via this link: www.melita.com/MyMelitaApple
Customers are invited to send any feedback they may have via www.melita.com/contactusor through the app itself.
