DANIELA ABELA IS VODAFONE MALTA’S ANNUAL GLOBAL HERO Daniela Abela, Customer Experience Delivery Senior Executive with Vodafone Malta‟s Commercial Operations Group, has been selected as the company‟s “Annual Global Hero” for 2014/15, and together with 28 other Vodafone Global Heroes from across all Vodafone‟s Operating Companies will be attending the Annual Global Hero Recognition Event in London in September. The Vodafone Annual Global Heroes is an award dedicated to high performers and role models who behave in „The Vodafone Way‟. Heroes from across all markets where Vodafone operates are selected on an annual basis and are recognised for their outstanding contribution and for the results they bring to the company‟s success. The Vodafone Group Executive Committee selects these “Annual Global Heroes” who are then invited to an all-expenses paid International VIP weekend trip to London, where they have the opportunity to meet Vodafone Group CEO, Vittorio Colao, and celebrate with other Heroes from around the world. Ms Abela was selected by Vodafone Malta based on her role in handling the recent transformation of Vodafone Malta‟s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring that this was done with minimal disruption to the company‟s level of service to the customer. Her particular strength was communicating all issues related to this project in a clear and effective manner within the company, while managing its different operational and technical aspects effectively to ensure that deliverables were met within the established time-frames. Michael Coney, Head of Commercial Operations explained “ Here at Vodafone we believe very strongly in recognising and rewarding those people who make an outstanding contribution to our company, particularly those whose contribution results in an improved experience for our customers. After all it is the quality and commitment of our people that drives what we do and determines how successful we can be. Daniela has been nominated for this award because her commitment, focus and determination to get the job done and to get it done well really sums up „The Vodafone Way‟. Despite being responsible for a particularly complex change programme, her attention to detail and the successful team dynamic she managed to create were in my view

critical to its success. This nomination is a well-deserved recognition of the results that she has managed to achieve.” Implementing „The Vodafone Way‟ across all its markets is one of the Vodafone Group‟s main corporate objectives and defines a consistent way of working, based on Speed, Simplicity and Trust, that aims to strengthen Vodafone‟s position as an admired company in the eyes of its customers and employees.

Go and Fimbank play down Grexit impact

Go and Fimbank, which both have links to Greece, have played down the impact of a „No‟ result in today‟s bailout referendum. Go is a shareholder in Greek telecommunications company Forthnet, but a spokesman for Go said the investment made has already been largely written off. “An amount of €6.6 million, classified as a non-current asset held for sale, now remains on Go‟s books,‟‟ the spokesman said. The instability in Greece may be behind the delay in the acquisition of Forthnet shareholding by its rivals Vodafone and Wind. A decision should have been concluded by last June but was recently extended till the end of the year. Clearly, it is also having an impact on its revenues: „„It would be premature to quantify the direct impact upon Forthnet of the measures recently introduced by the Greek government. Like any other entity in the market, Forthnet will probably be affected by any measures that put further pressure on the level of disposable incomes.‟‟

Fimbank opened an office in Athens last October to service the Greek market, providing trade finance and banking solutions, targeting corporate clients, particularly traders, importers and exporters.

Capital controls were inevitable The spokeswoman for Fimbank also confirmed that the bank was closely following the situation, which took a dramatic turn last week when the Greek government introduced emergency measures like capital controls and bank closures. “The situation has been evolving for some time, so the capital controls recently introduced were probably inevitable,” she said. “We do not expect any immediate impact on our Athens branch as their business is well structured, much of which involves financing trade receivables where the repayment source is outside Greece, that is, export receivables,” she explained. “We are currently reviewing the strategy for our Greek branch to ensure that we can continue to service our client‟s needs during this difficult period, while at the same time ensuring that adequate risk mitigants are in place to protect our business interests.”

Melita internet thrusts Malta’s digital performance up top Monday, 6 July 2015, 17:52

Melita welcomes results announced in the European Digital Agenda scoreboard placing Malta at the top spot out of all 28 EU member states for broadband coverage. Melita's continuous multi-million Euro investment in Fibre power internet service has thrusted Malta in the number one position amongst EU countries for coverage of Next Generation Broadband. Melita has facilitated access to speeds of 100 Megabits per second or more wherever and whenever customers need it around Malta and Gozo, without requiring complex installations or changes to wiring. Malta has also climbed two places in the amount of subscriptions for broadband connections of 30 Megabits or more. This comes as a direct result of Melita's upgrades to all its domestic customers, back in 2014, to a minimum of 30 Megabit per second connections and business broadband connections starting from 60 Megabits per second. "The results achieved by Malta and Melita are the result of a clear strategy supported by multi-million Euro investments aimed at delivering the best broadband experience,

nationwide to Malta. Our strategy remains based on converged services, where entertainment and communications increasingly depend on fast and high quality broadband internet. Statistics published by the EU encourage us. But we are also delighted to note that Maltese consumers and businesses have voted Melita as the 'Best Buy Award' for both fixed and wireless broadband internet", commented Andrei Torriani, CEO at Melita. Investments in fixed and wireless broadband for Melita continue relentlessly as the company recently also announced upgrades to its 3G+ mobile network, now delivering speeds of up to 42Mbps on mobile internet. Moreover, melitaWIFI offers speeds of up to 100 Megabits per second and this is being rolled out in more hubs around the country. Neighborhoods have access to even higher home internet speeds reaching up to 250 Megabits per second. These investments form part of Melita's five-year â‚Ź70 million rolling investment program. Melita has also been confirmed as Malta's fastest broadband internet provider by OOKLA - the international independent operator of the site www.netindex.com. After thousands of tests performed directly by customers from their own computers or devices, results show that Melita customers, on average, experience internet speeds twice as fast as those of other local operators.
