Well-being programme for employees launched

In line with Vodafone Group’s health, safety and well-being policy, Vodafone Malta has launched a well-being programme for its staff, aimed at creating a working environment that actively encourages employees to improve their own personal health and well-being. HR manager Claire Mifsud explained the reasoning behind this initiative: “Even though we have a relatively large workforce at Vodafone Malta, we pride ourselves on treating each member of staff as an individual with their own issues and concerns. We understand that balancing work and family commitments can sometimes be very stressful and we want to help our staff maintain this balance in a positive way. We already do this through providing very flexible and family-friendly measures. However, we are also taking this commitment one step further by implementing a well-being programme that will help our staff maintain a healthy lifestyle and promote their physical and mental well-being.” One key aspect of the programme is informing employees about various aspects of well-being, from nutrition, sports psychology and smoking cessation to the importance of stress management and mental health. The programme also hopes to emphasise the importance of sport and physical exercise. Activities will be divided into those aimed at keen sports enthusiasts, providing direct support to employees who participate in sporting challenges such as the Malta Marathon, and others that cater for less sporty individuals, who will be encouraged to find an exercise option that suits them. Employees can also participate in the Vodafone Global Well-being Challenge, which is a mileage-based exercise challenge for Vodafone employees worldwide. The culmination of the programme will be the second Vodafone Cross Country Connect Challenge to be held in May. This follows the highly successful Connect Challenge held last June, which saw teams of Vodafone Employees run, cycle, trek or kayak 85 kilometres across Malta and Gozo in just one day.
