Common Core’s Eureka Math Eureka Math is the most comprehensive and rigorously juried CCSS-based math curriculum in existence today for PreK-12. Common Core partnered with the New York State Education Department (EngageNY) over two years to develop a curriculum by master teachers and math scholars. A unique combination of sequencing, proven teaching methods, and extensive online resources makes Common Core’s Eureka Math your best choice for leading students beyond process to mastery of mathematical concepts. > Newly developed to meet the CCSS, not revised from an earlier curriculum > Eureka Math helps you convey mathematical knowledge in a sequence that follows the “story” of mathematics itself: A Story of Units, A Story of Ratios, and A Story of Functions COMMON CORE’S EUREK A MATH

> Master the instructional shifts in PreK-5 with fluency, application, concept development, and debrief sections > Then, in Middle and High School, focus on problem sets, exploration, Socratic discussion, and modeling > Mathematical concepts flow logically from one to the next providing a full-year of instruction across 5-7 modules per grade with a full-color book for each module > Methods of instruction that have been proven to work, in this nation and abroad, to produce students who are fluent in mathematics

Eureka Math A Story of Functions: Grades 9-12 With Common Core’s Eureka Math, Algebra I students encounter a more ambitious version of Algebra I than has generally been offered. The modules deepen and extend students’ understanding of linear and exponential relationships by contrasting them with each other and by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend. Students also engage in methods for analyzing, solving, and using quadratic functions. Geometry students explore more complex geometric situations and deepen their explanations of geometric relationships, moving towards formal mathematical arguments. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each course and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations.

COMMON CORE’S EUREK A MATH

Algebra II students build on their work with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions. Students extend their repertoire of functions to include polynomial, rational, and radical functions and work closely with the expressions that define the functions. They continue to expand and hone their abilities to model situations and to solve equations, including solving quadratic equations over the set of complex numbers and solving exponential equations using the properties of logarithms. Precalculus students extend their understanding of complex numbers to points in the complex plane, and come to understand that multiplying a given set of points by a complex number amounts to rotating and dilating those points in the complex plane about zero. Matrices are studied as tools for performing rotations and reflections of the coordinate plane, as well as for solving systems of linear equations. Inverse functions are explored as students study the relationship between exponential and logarithmic functions and restrict the domain of the trigonometric functions to allow for their inverses.
