FROG FOR LIFE
The official ring of Texas Christian University captures the spirit of pride and promise that has built our tradition of excellence since 1873.
HISTORY It was 1915 and Ed R. Bentley took the helm as the editor of The Horned Frog, TCU’s annual yearbook. For this special issue, Bentley wanted something a little different, something characteristic of the University. His idea would become the offcial seal of TCU when adopted by the Board of Trustees in 1959.

President of the Debating Club, Student Body Vice-President, and Editor-in-Chief of the Skiff, Bentley wasn’t your average student. After graduation, he received a law degree from Oxford University. He later retired from the army as a colonel and was awarded the Silver Star for his service. Active in civic, legal and fraternal organizations, Bentley went on to serve in the Florida Legislature. Unwavering in his support for TCU, Bentley served as the Chairman of his 50-year reunion.

chapter of your life.
The TCU ring, bearing the emblem of the seal, is possibly the most visible symbol of TCU pride. The highly cherished TCU ring can only be obtained through the Alumni Relations Offce after a student has successfully met the appropriate undergraduate or graduate requirements. Nearly a century ago, a young student accepted the responsibility of editorship and sought to give more than the minimum service to his school. After earning the right to wear this symbol, we hope you become a part of this tradition.
All who wear the Texas Christian University official ring have a timeless reminder of their memories and achievements.

UNIVERSITY SEAL Bentley’s design for the 1915 yearbook became the University’s Offcial Seal. The seal bears the image of the Horned Frog, the founding date of 1873, and the motto disciplina est fascultas or “knowledge is power.” The central fgures of the seal, the torch and the star, symbolize the “light of learning.” AFFILIATION SIDE Choose side options to showcase your graduation yeardate, degree, greek affliation, or a plain sided panel.
