It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 12th Annual Celebration Village benefitting Sanctuary Hospice! For the past 12 years, CV has become a Christmas shopping tradition that draws attendance from vendors and shoppers from all over the South! This year promises to offer new events and elements that we are very excited to introduce such as: Sips & Scripts (daily coffeehouse with works from local authors), Mingle & Jingle (happy hour event on Friday evening), Breakfast with
Santa (see ad in this insert) and the all new Mystery Box! Tickets for all these new events are limited and may be purchased in advance by calling 610-5482. The Mystery Boxes will be available for purchase for $20 near the front entrance and offer market discounts and prizes valued from $50 - $150! With many new vendors to choose from, we can’t wait to offer A NEW CELEBRATION to this year’s attendees! While we enjoy the sparkle and excitement of Celebration Village, we
must reflect on the reason behind this early shopping season – Sanctuary Hospice! As the largest annual fundraiser for Sanctuary, support is imperative. The philosophy of Sanctuary Hospice has been and remains to care for the dying and those they love in response to God’s call to serve our fellow man REGARDLESS of ability to pay. Anyone who has spent any amount of time at the Sanctuary Hospice House knows that the philosophy of care is unlike that of normal healthcare expecta-
tions. The love, compassion and tenderness spent with families is not only evident in the hospice house but is also carried out into the homes of North Mississippians in 18 counties daily out of the Sanctuary Home Hospice offices based in Tupelo and Starkville. The compassion is real. The care is different. The kindness given is above and beyond what one has become accustomed to and it is often administered to those with no payor sources. That is why we raise funds for Sanctuary - So that the
workers and caregivers may continue the founders’ vision to be “the hands and feet of Jesus” to those they serve each and every day! Thank you to all our many sponsors, volunteers and to all of you who come and shop with us faithfully each year! We look forward to seeing you all at what promises to be a true Celebration for all!

ithout a doubt, some people are “called” to the roles they play in life. Those who know Linda Gholston best will confirm that this was the case with her at an early age! From her childhood days at Baldwyn through her college days at Blue Mountain College, and later with many area and state hospitals, she led in various capacities of teaching, nursing and hospital administration. Linda left a reputation for integrity, dedication, compassion and leadership at all these places that blazed the trail to her retirement’s work at The Sanctuary Hospice House which opened in 2005. When the hospice house was first concepted, Linda was serving in an administrative role at Blair Batson in Jackson. The founders knew that pulling her from her position would not be easy but they pursued her continually knowing that she was the best person for the leadership seat. Linda prayed for guidance and wisdom and did find her way back “home” to North Mississippi giving the glory to God and creating a culture at the Sanctuary Hospice House that is engrained in the spirit and dedication of those there. Linda taught her employees to constantly strive to be “the hands and feet of Jesus to those they serve” and she walked that walk with them showing that we all have a God-given ability in us to help those who are facing serious and scary times. Linda recently retired from her Executive Director position at Sanctuary after 10 years of dedicated and tireless service. She plans to spend more time with her family including her special great nephews and niece; Douglas Gholston, Evie Gholston & newborn Wiley Gholston. Although she has gone on to “the farm” she has promised not to leave her family and ministry at Sanctuary behind. It is a privilege to honor Linda Gholston’s legacy at Sanctuary and to recognize her this year as First Lady of Celebration Village 2014!

THE E. RHODES AND LEONA B. CARPENTER FOUNDATION
In 1948 E.R. Carpenter Co. was founded as a latex foam rubber distributor for the Goodyear Co. With one piece of cutting equipment, one salesman and one book-keeper, Rhodes set up business selling to furniture and bedding manufacturers. Through these early years Rhodes investigated the possibilities of urethane foam. He soon recognized the potential of the new urethane foams and in 1956 as one of the first urethane foam manufacturers in the United States, launched production of foam for furniture and bedding applications. The company has grown to become one of the largest urethane foam producers in the world. Rhode’s belief in old fashion self sufficiency and independence led to his policy of eliminating as much dependence on outside suppliers as possible, acquiring ownership in oil fields and chemical facilities to control the quality of the raw materials critical to the production of polyurethane foams. The E. Rhodes Carpenter Foundation, founded in 1975, was renamed The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Foundation upon Leona’s death in 1982. The Foundation operates independently of and has no connection to Carpenter Co. The Foundation provides for grants to institutions which had close ties with Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter during their lifetimes and to organizations in communities where Mr. Carpenter established his early manufacturing facilities.
The ministry of Sanctuary Hospice meets the needs of so many people in our area. Day after day loving care is given to all regardless of ability to pay. Because of the tremendous need, eight new rooms were recently added. Celebration Village is the main fund raiser for this ministry and we are honored to be supporters.

Most of the inventions and great ideas that are born in people’s minds and hearts never work. The Sanctuary Hospice House was a test project that had to have total community support. It’s a place to go and spend one’s last days on this earth. Can you imagine how hard and complicated and expensive this process is to care for your mother, father, son, daughter or yourself in the last days of life? We call the Sanctuary Hospice House “God’s Waiting Room For Heaven”. What a blessing it has been to our community. Linda Gholston and her staff have been the top ingredient to its success. They treat the patients and families with more love and attention than anyone could expect. The other ingredient is you, the Northeast Mississippi community. Sanctuary Hospice is funded by many people. Hard earned money and the Celebration Village is just one of the ways we all come together to share our charitable giving and every penny that it makes is deposited in Sanctuary Hospice. My wife has chaired this event and she is one of the worker-bees that put it together and make it successful. We salute your help in this venture that makes us all proud of Sanctuary Hospice.

JOURNAL, INC.
Community owned. In 1934 George and Anna K. McLean purchased the newspaper with fewer than 500 subscribers. In 1972 they founded a nonprofit charitable organization, CREATE (Christian, Research, Education, Action, Technical, Enterprises) to stimulate private giving and improve the quality of life throughout Northeast Mississippi. In 1983 the McLeans gave the newspaper to the community through CREATE rather than selling it for millions of dollars to a national chain. Through CREATE, Journal Publishing has given more than $10 million dollars back into the community which has had a turnaround effect of more than $65 million.
THE MISSISSIPPI RADIO GROUP is a privately held, Mississippi family owned broadcast company. We truly believe the “old” standard that radio is more than a business and that broadcasters are here to serve the communities in which they operate. The stations of the Mississippi Radio Group, WSYE-FM (Sunny 93), WWMS-FM (Miss 98), WZLQ-FM (98.5) and WELO-AM (AM580) are proud to say they provide thousands of dollars of advertising and services to qualified charitable groups across north Mississippi each year. We are proud to once again team with Celebration Village and Sanctuary Hospice House. What a great cause! After all, north Mississippi is our home too.

he annual Celebration Village Preview Party will take on new meaning this year as Mrs. Sue Jarvis celebrates the memory and life of her late husband Morris, through her gracious sponsorship of this year’s event. The Morris Jarvis 2014 Celebration Village Preview Party will be held on Wednesday evening, October 22nd at 6:30 pm. Morris – Sue’s husband of 53 years passed away at Sanctuary last June after battling Lewy Body Dementia for almost 10 years. Mrs. Sue fondly remembers her late husband as a “gentleman” with a “generous and loving heart”. Mr. Jarvis was a well known area businessman having served as President and CEO of Hancock Fabrics for 20 years helping to shape the fabric industry across the nation. He was an active member of Harrisburg Baptist Church for 39 years having served as deacon and also in various other leadership roles. He worked tirelessly as a board member for many local and regional community boards and associations. He was known for his devotion to God and to his family: daughters Leigh Anne Orozco (Henry) and Leslie Holliday (Ed) and six grandchildren, Marina and Jacob Orozco, Peyton, Edison, Graham, and Perrin Holliday. Ms. Sue hopes to honor Mr. Morris’s legacy of character and charitable community commitment by giving back to Sanctuary Hospice - a facility she felt gave her so much during Morris’s last days. Recalling her days at Sanctuary, Ms. Sue says, “It felt peaceful here. It was as if I felt God was near, waiting for him to send his angels to come and take him home." She remembers the staff for providing their family with a warm, loving environment and servant’s love when they needed it the most and demonstrating a true reflection of being “the hands and feet of Jesus”. The board and staff of Sanctuary Hospice appreciates Mrs. Sue Jarvis for her generous gift of sponsorship for this year’s preview party – a gift that will in turn serve other families who need that loving care that Mrs. Sue felt during Mr. Morris’s final earthly days.

Introducing: “The Morris Jarvis 2014 Celebration Village Preview Party”
Since the beginning of Sanctuary Hospice, a volunteer base of incredible people have been behind the scenes helping to pull many of our efforts together. The Sanctuary Hospice Auxiliary members steadily and readily support our patients, their families and our staff through their many activities. Through monthly meetings lead this year by President Ann Wommack, the Auxiliary uncovers needs and works endlessly to provide them. If you are interested in volunteering your time or learning more, call Heather Stiles – Volunteer Coordinator at 407-2400.
The Sanctuary Hospice Junior Auxiliary
Recognizing the need for the next generation of volunteers and supporters, the Sanctuary Hospice Junior Auxiliary (SHJA) was founded this year. Through quarterly meetings and constant contact through social and other media, the SHJA led by President Angelia Thomas, has become a new driving force supporting all things Sanctuary! To learn more about this new and exciting North MS group of selfless volunteers, call Heather Palmer at 407-2400.
