Alex Sumner is one to watch out for in the coming months Alex Sumner, a 19 year old singer from Sutton Coldfield is hoping to break through to the public eye after her album is released this coming November. Currently working as a visual merchandiser, Alex has always dreamed of pursuing her passion off singing. Alex was spotted during a karaoke night at her local pub,

The Kings Arms where she regularly sings for her local fans. Paul Snook spotted her who is now producing her album at Blue 46 Studios in Coleshill. Alex’s success is growing rapidly with exciting prospects lying ahead.

It’s mad how everything’s coming together after years of dreaming. The first completed song ‘Hate and Lies’ is currently circulating Facebook with another 3 songs due to be sent onto iTunes in the next few months where people will be paying to listen.

I idolise Lady GaGa, she’s amazing.

Alex tells us, “I have a few meetings set up in July in New York at Nighthall Studios, I’ve been told that Road Runner are possibly interested in signing me, which is all very exciting. It’s mad how everythings suddenly all coming together

after years of dreaming! I’d one day love to be as amazing as Lady GaGa. She’s definitely my idol”. Alex wrote all of the lyrics on her up coming album, which is yet to have a title, but she tells us, “the lyrics are all related to life experiences and real feelings. I wanted to write all of the songs to show that I can do it. I’m very proud of what I’ve produced and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my book”. Alex’s album will be released in November however, keep your eyes peeled on iTunes for a sneak preview of what’s to be expected. May 5th FLEUR 5

With the success of the past four years at Beach Break Live, will the 5th Anniversary top it all? Last years Beach Break saw the festival take its location to Pembry Park in South Wales. The location was such a hit with the festival go-ers that this year, the fun will be situated in the same location again this coming June. With the likes of Tinie Tempah, White Lies and Magnetic Man headlining the three day festival this summer, it will be sure to be a huge success for the attendees. 6 FLEUR May 5th

The headliners will be joined by Example, Professor Green, Katy B, We Are Scientists, Newton Faulkner, Ed Sheeran, Magnetic Man and BBC Radio One’s very own Zane Lowe, along with plenty of more big names joining in on the fun. We caught up with the organisers of Beach Break Live to see what they expect from their 5th Anniversary and its clear that the fun doesn’t stop at just the music. This year the festival has introduced new sporting activities for daytime fun, including Kite-flying, Snowboarding & Skiing and

Wakeboarding lessons all situated on locations nearby the designated festival area. Unlike the big festivals such as Reading and Leeds, Beach Break Live is priced at just £99 a ticket and the food and beverages on site are all reasonably priced as their festival is aimed at students with only a select few

at an affordable price and with a twist, that twist being that the festival would have a beach as the setting. The team managed to have the opportunity to be featured on the BBC’s programme, Dragons Den which then led them to have a meeting with the UK’s leading Student Travel and Event specialists, Outgoing Travel. With many meetings, late night organising and gathering together such an amazing team, Beach Break Live was created with the sponsorship gained from Dell.

are happy to have the festival again as long as the grounds are respected this year. Last year saw the locals of Pembry complain about the vast amount of rubbish left over and the grass destroyed by BBQ’s and general wear and tear. This year however, the organisers have put new rules into place in order to not receive any bad press at the end of the festival. “We are going to be distributing more big bags to the festival go-ers and more people have been hired to help clean up at the end of the festival”. With these intact

With the sponsorship in the bag and the final touches completed, Beach Break Live 2007 was a huge sell out success and 2008 organising began taking place. The organisers tell us how this year will be the best one to date. There new home in South Wales is the perfect location and the local’s

A FLEUR’s opinion into Summer 2011’s look. Spring has seen a very 70s floral remake, with wide flairs and pretty headscarf’s, so what’s to make an appearance into our wardrobes for the summer of 2011? Well, after scouting the shops, reading every designers perspective for that iconic, eye catching summer piece, its become clear those little, denim shorts are a must have for your new Summer wardrobe, accompanied with that never failing floral number, you really can’t go wrong. If you’re at all like me, piling on the jewellery is never a fail. Big rings, too many bangles, long necklaces and those must have feather earrings- a BIG look for this summer. And like they say, a girl can never wear too much jewellery!

whether there traditional vintage green or hot pink, any wellies are good wellies for the festival period. Our personal favourite look for the of Cavalli and Ralph Lauren’s fabulous look. Everyone wants to look good during the hottest season of the year. Purchasing those key, vibrant items to rock in all ways glamorous is of course essential for the summer period. Guaranteed if you get it right (which we of course trust that you will), you’ll feel like the girl next door in seconds! (Fringe top- £6.99 and patterned shorts- £19.99 both New Look).

A girl can never wear too much jewellery Of course the festival must haves are essential with the season fastly approaching. Days on end without showering means you need to glam yourself up in every way possible. Big, clip in flowers, hair band’s and headscarf’s are fab for turning your lifeless locks into a maine of Summer delight. Of course you can’t forget those vital Wellington Boots,

summer season is the Red Indian look, with the fringing and bright colours, very summery and eye catching and a fabulous look for the up-coming festival season. Tassels are going to be making a big appearance this season, with the highstreet following the trusty footsteps
