NYU Langone Health Rego Park Ambulatory Care

2024 | Queens, NY

Revit, Procore | SD, DD, CD, CA

Rego Park Ambulatory Care is an NYU Langone Health project around 5,000 sq.ft. This project involved the transformation of the facility into a dedicated healthcare environment. With a focus on functionality and efficiency, we designed the space acoomadating various medical specialties, including Urology

Ultrasound Room, Oncology Exam Rooms, ENT practice, Phlebotomy and Clean & Soiled Processing Room.

Roles & Responsibilites

- Took on a significant leadership role, managing substantial responsibilities with minimal oversight from the project manager.

- Collaborated closely with end users through regular meetings to ensure the design met their specific needs and workflow requirements.

- Coordinated effectively between consultants throughout both the design and construction phases.

- Worked closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure high construction quality and project alignment.

- Developed the Revit model and produced detailed drawings for all project phases based on the model.

- Reviewed submittals and responded to RFIs during the construction phase to maintain project integrity.

What was challenging about this project in particular:

- EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES

One of the most challenging aspects of this project involved the meticulous planning and coordination required for the Equipment Schedules. Ensuring that all medical equipment was accurately specified, ordered, and installed in a timely manner was critical to the project’s success. The complexity was heightened by the need to align the equipment with specific spatial and operational requirements, necessitating close coordination with suppliers, consultants, and end users.

- MILLWORK DETAILS

Another significant challenge was the development of Millwork Details. The custom millwork had to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements, integrating seamlessly with the medical equipment and overall design. This required precise attention to detail, frequent revisions, and thorough communication with fabricators to ensure that the finished product met the high standards expected for the facility.

One of the key challenges in this project related to wall details is addressing the special requirements imposed by the MRI machine’s magnetic field. The walls of the imaging bay must be meticulously designed to mitigate the effects of the strong magnetic field generated by the MRI equipment. This involves several complex considerations including Magnetic Shielding, Structure Integrity and Interation with Existing Infrastructure.
