Nottingham Integrated Urban Design Project
An Earthly Paradise
- An oasis in the urban context to add sense of soft natural green and provide recreational area for local residents. The Nottingham site is located right near the high-density housing area where mainly consists of families and workers. This residential area is lack of green outdoor space for recreational and social use while having poor connection with city centre. Therefore this new urban regeneration proposal is aiming to develop the great potential of the site to become the new urban stronghold between residential area and city centre while providing opportunities for residents and workers to engage with the green space.

Revealing the Secret Corner of Sheffield
03
Design Brief
Students should first select a journey within 1015 minutes walk, either beginning or ending at the Castlegate. Students should then develop a diagrammatic concept for the selected journey, based on existing urban planning and design literature. Thereafter students should develop a set of design proposals to show how they would enhance the quality of the pedestrian experience throughout the journey. The design process must refect the overall outcome to visually express the qualities of the pedestrian experience in sequential eye-level 3D perspectives. Vision&Concept
Aims

Concept The detailed planting plan follows the overall concept of softness. To create an airy, light atmosphere in the garden through using grasses and perennial plants. Waxy evergreen foliage provides a strong contrast with the mild scene while enhances the feeling of softness. The cloud shape of shrub also reflects on the concept.
