Welcome from the Headteacher The primary phase of Simon Balle opened in September 2015 with the first two Early Years Foundation Stage classes in our brand new building. This year, those children will progress into Year 3. Through the addition of a cohort of children each year, we will grow into a twoform entry primary school, joining our highly successful and popular secondary phase. The position available could be for any year group, depending on experience, from Reception to Year 3. Simon Balle School is known for its unique and inclusive ethos and culture. We have a clear vision of the purpose of education and the values we want to promote. We believe that all young people should be valued for who they are. Our highest expectations ensure that everyone feels safe, valued and is highly successful. We talk of human individuals flourishing and promote a daily education of knowledge and skills, living well together as a community, respect and dignity. This ethos drives our policy and procedures and enhances our outcomes. The curriculum for youngest children is different from more traditional settings. Specialist teachers teach Spanish and music to all children. By Year 2 children are invited to join our “Strings Project” and this year 41 budding musicians are learning to play either the violin or cello. Secondary specialists also teach Physical and Religious Education lessons and as the school grows more specialist teaching will take place. In addition, there are many links and crossover opportunities for the youngest children to work with older students. There is equally a deep commitment to outdoor learning and physical development. Simon Balle All-through school has a wooded area, an outdoor classroom, fields and a swimming pool on site. Already the school’s ethos of aspiration and high expectations has shown that our young people can achieve well. We have achieved excellent rates of progress in the Early Years, 93% of children passing the phonics-screening test and we are one of the most popular schools in the local area with 100% of parents saying they would recommend this school. Simon Balle All Through School offers excellent training and career development both for those starting and those already developing their career. The successful candidates will: Be committed and develop understanding of the All Through ethos and our values Be passionate about teaching; have excellent interpersonal skills and able to effectively work with a range of children, staff and parents Enthuse, inspire, challenge and engage all children Demonstrate daily the Teacher’s Standards Be dedicated to raising standards for all children Be reflective, flexible and committed to work as a team I look forward to receiving your application and hopefully will have the opportunity to discuss it in person with you.
