The intention is to keep you up to date with any information that might be of use to you in planning your future, whether you’re thinking about university, a gap year, options for Year 10, A-level or whatever! Student careers group On Friday 21st October, we had our first student careers meeting for the year. Thank you to D. Rugg Gunn (STEM & Careers student leader) for his support. With representatives from Year 7, 8, 9 & 12 we had a very informative meeting with some fantastic ideas on how we continue to promote careers education at Simon Balle School.

Year 8 – Enterprise Day - May 2017 - TBC Year 9 – Get Work Ready - Thurs 9th Feb 2017 (Information assembly - Thurs 2nd Feb 2017)
History Students in Year 8 and 9 are participating in a Take-over Day at Hertford Museum this month, which involves them running activities and tours in the museum for the public and primary school students on the 18th November. They have put a lot of work into the day, such as creating a poster to advertise it, gathering information for their activities and planning tweets to broadcast the day on social media.

Library Thurs 10 Nov in the Library after school there are refreshments followed by talk 3.45-4.45 by Julie Palmer. Julie is editor of the Mercury newspaper and will be talking about journalism, writing etc and careers in journalism. All students, staff and parents welcome.
Geography We'll be visiting Manchester Metropolitan University while we're in Manchester. The students will get to work with some trainee teachers and get a talk about university life.
P.E. Coaching opportunities with school teams available – Please see members of the PE Department (All years welcome).
Sixth form Sixth form open evening – 17th November Y12 and Y13 have the opportunity to register their interest in attending Skills London 2016. Skills London is London’s biggest jobs and careers event for young people and takes place at ExCeL London 9-10 December 2016. Aimed at 15-24 year olds, this two day event will provide young people and their families with a rare chance to discover careers through interactive, inspirational activities and demonstrations, and help young people visually bridge the gap between what they enjoy doing and what they could potentially do as a career.
