EBC University Campus. _ Aguascalientes, MX. 2016. -Private Competition / Second Place. The Escuela Bancaria Comercial is a private business school with more than 80 years of experience with seven camp across the country. Today, as part of its expansion program, it is seeking to open a new campus in Aguascalientes, for which it holds a close competition. In the ever changing city of Aguascalientes, the EBC project centers in a flexible proposal that can work as an independent campus or can be linked in the future with the mix context such as residential and commercial spaces. The proposal aims to generate public spaces that foster coexisting team work and the exchange of ideas. Therefore, the program develops around a central semi open courtyard where a central staircase links the two story building. The plan is based on four concrete blocks that enclose a central public space that can be accessed by the the four corners encouraging gatherings and networking. Along the sides, the academic life takes place in a more private scheme surrounded by gardens that act as a physical and visual barrier. The cafeteria is located at the back of the building opening towards the gardens giving a pause in the active student life. In the north side of the building, there is a two story library which seeks to inspire students. It houses a double height reading room and a digital area where they can investigate, work and study. One of the biggest challenges in this project was to allocate 3700 m2 of parking spaces; this was resolved creating two parking lots, one underground and the second at the back of the building.

Casa Paraíso. _ Cuernavaca, MX. 2015. - Private Residence. / Built. Casa Paraíso is a weekend country house located in a residential estate within a golf course near the city of Cuernavaca, Mexico. Stading on flat ground with two-storey neighbours on both sides, the main and most important design intention is to generate a sense of openness on the rear side of the project which enjoys a wide view to the golf course and the montain chain nearby. The design concept approaches a single-storey house with two mayor openings; one facing the street on the south side and the second one on the rear facing north, where all outdoor and most of the social activities take place. In addition, low-rise vegetation and trees are introduced as site boundaries instead of walls or fences, intended to embrace a sense of nature inwards the house, bluring the limits of the indoor / outdoor sensation. The architectural scheme both in plan and section is based upon the repetition of a series of walls oriented towards the main views, sectioning the different program within the house intersected only by a long circulation axis. All this elements are held together by a single concrete slab that ordains the hole project happening below it, resolved with a two sided slope given by estate’s normativity.

Alegra Towers. _ Queréraro, MX. 2015. - Apartment Compound. / Under Construction. Since the 1990’s Queretaro has been one of Mexico’s fastest growing and developing areas in terms of population, industrial and economic development; making it an attractive place to migrate to. However, due to the housing demand that this has produced, Queretaro’s unplanned urban sprawl has gone beyond the city’s original limits, leaving the urban plan of the early 90’s completely obsolete. This high demand has also raised the cost of land, yet local salaries have not risen accordingly. Hence, there is need for affordable housing amongst the youngest generation of Queretanos and immigrants. In response to this situation, we have designed and are now building a residential complex located 18 km north of Queretaro’s city center, in an area called Jurica & Juriquilla, developed in the early 1970’s as a high level residential area. Like the rest of the city, it’s rapid growth has resulted in a high demand for compact vertical development as a model of urbanization. The complex is composed of four towers, each 14 stories high, with a total of 226 residential apartments with a variety of layouts in order to satisfy an array of lifestyles and needs. These go from 90 M2 to 160 M2. These towers are strategically located within 3.3 HA. of land in order to, on the one hand, take advantage of the orientation, allowing for natural light and temperature control, and on the other, so no tower will obstruct the views of the other apartments, thus every apartment has long views of the beautiful landscape. This beautiful landscape is the result of leaving 35% of the plot unconstructed. This also offers great green areas which are an ecological way of managing rainfall. They also function as a green path that links the lower level program of each tower, such as the main entrance, parking, gym, spa, library, quiet room, multipurpose rooms and pool. The façade is part of the building structure working as a perimetral concrete grid design in a modular way which lowers costs and allows a faster construction. The supporting walls are the nucleus of the tower holding the elevators and dividing the apartments. This functional façade and construction system is ideal for the windy and seismic floor.

Casa La Quinta _ San Miguel de Allende, MX. 2015. - Private Residence. / Built. La Quinta house is a weekend house located in the town of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. After visiting the site and considering the requirements of the program, the conclusion was to respect the identity of the place, built context and the importance of the height of the neighboring preexistent walls. This last were taken and conceived as limits that would define the empty space between them. The distribution in the ground floor plan comes from this concept, leaving the social space without divisions and boundaries with the outdoor space. Having a scheme that works inwards all the restrictions and having no nearby views to the landscape, 3 void spaces were proposed in the plan in the form of patios, each one with different character, use and program. These voids give the project its character, producing different perception of scale to the user, a high contrast of light and shadows, spaces of silence and rest.

CANVAS Tulum. _ Quintana Roo, MX. 2017. - Hotel Coompound. / Ongoing. Canvas is an hotel compund located in the Tulum peninsula in south of Mexico. The site, facing the beachfront has plain topography which houses natural tropical vegetation of palmtrees and other species. Due to the client’s needs and specifications, the compund has to include a restaurant area facing the street, 10 to 12 rooms or villas and a public space of beachside lounge and pool. The program was arranged alongside a longitudinal axis that passes throughout the whole site from the steet to the beach, referencing the mayan and prehispanic calzadas that organized their compunds. The architectural nature of the project is open to it’s natural surroundings, enjoying private gardens and ocean views. Also, one of the main intentions was to preserve a simple and monolothic construction of every compund buidling using neutral materials giving light and shadows a principal importance, like a painting on a blank canvas.

Casa Octavia. _ Colonia Condesa, CDMX. 2017. - Boutique Hotel. / Ongoing. Octavia is a mexican fashion Brand that commisioned the office a boutique hotel that involved the concept of the fashion Brand. This Little hotel is to be buit on a site where an old house sits, in Colonia Condesa in Mexico City. This is an historic district of Mexico city, were houses were constructed side by side and have a lot of pedestrian and neighbourhood life. Due to this parameters, building regulations are very strict on the area, which have a direct impact on the development of the idea and the project. A minimum patio had to be considered for ventilation, lighting and absortion purposes. This void and the next one being the circulations became the concept of the proyect, making the gesture on the main facade, having two large openings to the street that virtually connect these patios / voids to the street. The main structural axis follow this gesture througout the project.

CAISA Offices. _ Querétaro, MX. 2017. - Office Building. / Ongoig. CAISA is a real estate and developers office with headquarters in Mexico city looking to expand to the growing city of Querétaro. Due to this expansion they needed a new office space in the city to house all the employees. The site is located in a corner facing East, where the main facade is. The sun path and orientation became an issue for the amount of light and heat coming in the building. Due to this parameters and the extrict needs of organization, the design concept emerged by separating each area in four quadrants connected by patios and a rigid structural grid of beams and high celings, adressing the issue of the orientation.
