About this Book This book was created after reading a posting on The Online Photographer describing the Solo Photo Book in a Month project as proposed by Paul Butzi. I had been in the process of learning to use a new digital camera and needed something to force me to work a bit harder. After looking at Paul’s book, I took my dog out for her morning walk determined to document the arrival of spring in northern Vermont with the fiddle heads, red Efts, mud etc. But, alas, I was too slow and another photographer beat me to the punch with a book on the same topic. At the same time, my oldest daughter was starting her second season in the Northern Vermont Youth Lacrosse league and I was spending a lot of time on the lacrosse field with the other parents. Since I had a new camera and needed something to help pass the time, the camera came along and I started taking pictures at the games. One night, while editing the photos from that day’s lacrosse game, the idea for this book struck me like the proverbial bolt from the blue. About the Team The pictures in this book show the progression of the Westford Wildcat 3-4 Lacrosse team through their 2008 spring season. The team is made up of 15 boys and girls from both third and fourth grades at Westford Elementary School. The games are played against other 3-4 boys teams from schools in the area. Most of the kids on the team had never seen, let alone played in, a lacrosse game prior to their first lacrosse practice. Thanks to the patience and skills of the coaches, the kids have, in one or two seasons, transformed from a bunch of kids with sticks into a rather formidable lacrosse team. Thanks My thanks go out to my patient wife who allowed me space and time to pursue this project on such short notice. My thanks also go to the parents and coaches of the Westford Wildcats who allowed me to use photos of their children and who also provided encouraged for this project.
