hen he stepped up onto the platform of the first Southwest Believers’ Convention in 1981, Kenneth Copeland was taking a major step in fulfilling a vision and call the Lord had given him nearly 15 years earlier. In 1966 on the campus of Oral Roberts University, he was still basking in the anointing after Brother Oral Roberts laid hands on him in a ministry line. As he did, God opened his eyes to see the spiritual condition of believers as he’d never seen it before.

Raising up a

New Generation

What he saw hit him hard. Suddenly the bodies of the believers passing before Brother Roberts for ministry were transparent. Only a vague outline could be seen. Though physically healthy in most cases, their spirits were so scrawny and sickly they could hardly walk. Yet, on top of each emaciated, little spirit body was a huge head. “Lord,” he cried, “what is this?” Son, He answered, I have called you to feed My people. They are out of balance. They are physically developed. They’re mentally developed. Some are so developed mentally that they can hardly hold their heads up. I’ll show you how to feed My people and build them up spiritually until they become balanced. That feeding and strengthening commission was the goal as the doors opened for the first Southwest Believers’ Convention, Aug. 17, 1981. In a day in which large churches were measured by the hundreds instead of the tens of thousands, 13,000 believers had assembled at Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth for a week of total immersion in the Word of God. The significance did not go unnoticed. One local television station reported: “Nobody would believe except the believers, that there would be that many believers come to town to the Believers’ Convention!”

When I asked the Lord all those years ago, “What do You want out of these meetings? What is our specific purpose?” He said to me, I want you to conduct meetings where people can totally immerse in the Word of God. Get into the Word of God and stay there! Talk about faith and the integrity of the Word—talk about it and talk about it and talk about it…there is a people in the land today who have enough hunger for My Word to come and sit under that kind of intensive exposure. That’s our calling and we’re seeing it done! s Kenneth Copeland

| The format—total immersion in God’s Word morning, afternoon and night— had come from a training process the United States military applied in World War II. They discovered they could train men and women to be conversationally fluent in the German language in six weeks of total immersion—hearing and speaking nothing else. In giving Brother Copeland that same model for Believers’ Conventions, God said: There is a people in the land today who have enough hunger for My Word to come and sit under it in that kind of intensive exposure. Free of charge and open to the public, Believers’ Conventions were designed primarily to build up the Partners of Kenneth Copeland Ministries according to Hebrews 5:13-14: “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Year after year, new kingdom keys would be revealed and

new strength infused into the lives of those who attended.

A Word Revival | It was evident from the start of that first Southwest Believers’ Convention that God was raising up a new generation of believers. In a word through John Osteen, founding pastor of Lakewood Church, Houston, the Lord said, I’m sending a Word revival to cause the Church to know who they are in Jesus Christ. And they will arise like a giant and they will go forth into a darkened world saturating them with My glory and My power. And they’ll cast out demons and heal the sick and bring deliverance to mankind. And I will show My glory in your generation. In the meeting one year later, the Spirit of the Lord declared through Brother Copeland, They shall mount up with wings as eagles and go forth as a mighty army doing the works of God—doing and fulfilling the words of Jesus when He said, “And greater works than these shall [you] do, because I go to my Father.” Year after year, new kingdom keys would be revealed and new strength infused into the lives of those who attended. As the sixth millennium came to a close, a new type of believer was in the earth. Restoration had come. Believers were walking in maturity. No longer emaciated, increasing numbers of bold, Word-filled, faith-confessing believers were filling the Body of Christ with knowledge of how to stand and contend for spiritual reality in the face of temporal circumstances. Believers’ Conventions Gain in Importance | The

importance of this became even clearer on October 18, 2001. A little more than a month after the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Lord told Brother Copeland to lead Kenneth

Copeland Ministries in an all-out attack against the spirit of fear, instructing: Pull the plug on terrorism! And Believers’ Conventions became more important than ever. During the 2002 SWBC, the word of the Lord through Billye Brim declared: Believers’ Conventions…will gain in importance and place in the finishing of the glorious Church and her race. It will be more important than ever that they be held and that they be well-attended by believers whom I will draw. For believers must hear things, how to walk the last steps of the way…. And so I place a stamp of approval upon these conventions as a place where I will show you how, as I did tonight, you can walk in the glory and have things right. You can walk in the glory and not be afraid. You can walk in the glory of My presence…. Where you go in the darkness of this hour you will shine and glow with My glory and My power. You have heard it said but now you will believe it and the Believers’ Conventions will help you to see it, to believe it, to receive it, and to be it—the manifestation of the glory of God.

Believers’ Conventions were marked not only by new revelation of the priority of love but also by instruction in how to develop it in the walk of the believer. Perfect, fully developed love would flush all fear from the believer (1 John 4:18). And that full development would come as believers made the highest priority keeping the command of love as Jesus gave it in Matthew 22:37-40: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Fullness and Overflow | On New Year’s Eve 2003, the Lord told Brother Copeland to tell His people: 2004 will be the fullest year of your life and 2005 will be the year of overflow. For 2005 the name of the Southwest Believers’ Convention, as the Lord had instructed for the other weeklong meetings, was changed to the Southwest Prosperity Overflow Convention. “I’m looking forward to what God has called us to do and what is happening in the future and things that are happening now, far beyond anything Gloria and I envisioned when we started this ministry 38 years ago,” Brother Copeland said. “This is the time to be a part of several of these meetings a year and stay strong and build strong. Stay on the tapes, stay in church, stay strong with God to the place where you go through spiritual adolescence and you come into spiritual adulthood, and you take your place no longer as a child of God but as a man or woman of God. “That’s our calling. And thank God, we’re seeing it done.” V ICTOR Y

Our dedicated KCM staff members will be on hand to welcome and serve our Partners and Friends at the registration, Partner booth and book table areas. And our growing team of loyal volunteers will be serving their fellow believers throughout the week. The main purpose of our conventions is to provide an opportunity for our Partners and Friends to experience a week of total immersion in the Word of God, and our 25th year at Southwest will be no exception! If you are hungry for more of God in your life, set aside time to attend these life-giving meetings August 1-6. You will hear the Word of God…and hear it and hear it and hear it. Then you know what happens? Faith comes! Get into the overflow—and receive all God has for you.

Ordinary Kids Doing Extraordinary Things

Children’s ministry at KCM conventions is no less powerful than the ministry parents receive in the adults’ meeting. Total immersion in the Word and the Spirit is the goal of the children’s ministry team every year. Since the 1980s when Willie George first introduced Gospel Bill and his gang of Spirit-filled puppet characters, KCM kids have been on the grow and on the go for the Lord. In the 90s Cathie Dorsch and the Kids Like You ministry team taught the kids to be world overcomers in Jesus. Today, Commander Kellie joins Commanders Dana and Linda Johnson in leading Superkid Academy at KCM conventions across the nation. Commander Kellie says, “We are training our kids to be able ministers of the Word of God and not just good Christians.” Superkid Academy and Dana Johnson Ministries have trained a powerful group of Superkids to become part of SKA Special Forces. These 11-12-year-old Superkids actually pray, teach, minister and do praise and worship in the services. Commander Kellie says, “It’s all about kids ministering to kids!” Many of our kids have grown up to answer God’s call on their lives to be full-time ministers in churches and Christian ministries across the nation. Many of them attribute their passion for the Lord and ministry to the experiences they had each year during KCM conventions. Superkid Academy ministry and activities are 25 Y

much the same as the adult services—and more! A powerful time in praise and worship every day prepares the kids to receive the Word of God. Prayer school and healing school culminate in a special healing school service on Saturday morning, complete with the opportunity to share healing testimonies with Ms. Gloria in the main service. Skits and games bring the principles of God’s Word to light in ways the kids can grasp and retain all the Lord has in store for them. And offering time is a favorite time—the kids love every opportunity to sow their seed. The theme for 2005 Superkid Academy is ONE WAY! Commander Dana says, “Kids have a lot of choices to make in their lives, and we are going to teach them that only ONE is the right choice. “We know Jesus is the only way for us to approach God. We are teaching our kids Jesus is the only way to be free, have peace and be secure. He is the one way to find truth, life and love.” Superkid Academy is a training camp for kids! For six days, they are immersed in the love of God. They learn how much He loves them and how to love Him with all their heart and soul and strength. They learn by example how to give His love to others. And they learn what may be the most important thing for all of us—that being a Christian is a lot of fun! V ICTOR Y

There could be a hundred scriptures that would apply to your circumstance. Don’t be lazy—look them up yourself! You see, the only scriptures that will work for you are the ones you “get.” You can ask the Holy Spirit to help you find the right scriptures. But you won’t get them just by reading the Bible every once in a while. Your victory scriptures must be in your heart abundantly. They must become a part of you. So look them up. Type them out. Then start speaking them until they become like your right arm and then like your left arm. Just like you use your arms every day to get things done, you’ll use the Word of God that’s part of you to accomplish things in your life. The Word of God you speak about healing will work healing in your life day in and day out. His Word you speak about prosperity will work prosperity into your life every day. Fighting the Devil | When I first started preaching God said, Son, I want you to teach the Church how to fight the devil. Faith in God’s Word and speaking the Word is the No. 1 way to fight the devil. As you speak the Word right into the ear of God, you are also speaking it right in the face of the devil. When you do that, God will come on the scene and run the devil off! Think about it. Isn’t that exactly what Jesus did? After Jesus had been in the wilderness for 40 days, the devil came around to try to convince Him that He could bring God’s plan to pass in His life through His own effort. Jesus knew exactly how to get the devil to shut up and clear out. Matthew 4:1-11 tells us how He did it. Jesus countered every attack of the enemy with the Word of God. “It is written,” He said. Three times Jesus responded to the temptations and mocking of the devil with the Word. He knew the Word—it was part of Him—and He had faith in it to bring victory over the devil. God wants you to know you can do the same thing Jesus did! Get the Word into your spirit. Make it part of you. Speak it out. Use it every day, like you use your arms. By faith, do it! And you’ll have victory—total victory! V ICTOR Y Norvel Hayes is a businessman, seasoned teacher of the Word and an accomplished author who has written 60 books—two of them best sellers. He travels and ministers in churches, seminars, crusades, colleges, conventions and prisons throughout the world. How Do You Spell *

b y T. L . O s b o r n

&

D

o you need a miracle in your life? N Well I’ve got news for you: You already have it! That’s right. You were created by a miraculous God, and through Jesus Christ you’re connected to a miracle. The only thing you need to receive your miracle is to discover who you are in Christ. N When you understand who you are in Christ, you understand the miracleworking power Jesus has given you. You then become contagious and you can’t help but share His truth with the world! Spelling Out Your Miracle | I want to help you take hold of whatever miracle you need in your life. So I asked myself how I could achieve that and I found the answer in the book of Acts. The first sentence says:

“The former treatise have I made of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: to whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from

Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me” (Acts 1:1-4). In this passage we find seven milestones based on the word MIRACLE. So letter-by-letter let’s go through the word MIRACLE and discover how you can unlock your miracle. | Miracle success begins with maturity. When you discover who you are in Christ, you begin to measure your life and ministry by Jesus’ model. You begin to want what He wants for the same reason He wants it. Your starting point for spiritual maturity begins when you desire to do “all that Jesus began both to do and teach” (Acts 1:1). First Timothy 1:15 says, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Jesus came to save the lost and He wants you to do the same thing. When soul-winning becomes your passion, you are developing the maturity God desires for you to have.

“M” Is for Maturity

“I” Is for Inspiration | Jesus did all He did right up “until the day He was taken up.” His example is supposed to be the inspiration for the way you live your life. Think about that. Jesus never knew a failure. He never met a sin that was too bad to forgive. He never met a sickness He couldn’t heal. In essence, Jesus never met impossibility.

The only thing you need to receive your miracle is to discover who you are in Christ, the hope of glory. 25 Y

S O U T H W E S T

Christ, the hope of glory, is in you—He is your inspiration. Follow His example. Just like Him, you can believe there is no failure, sin, sickness or impossibility you can’t overcome! “R” Is for Ratification | The definition for ratify is: “to approve or confirm; especially to give official sanction to.” You have been approved to continue doing and teaching all that Jesus did. God sent Jesus to redeem and justify you. Jesus sent the Holy Ghost to live in you. “He through the Holy Ghost had given commandments” (Acts 1:2). The Holy Ghost in you allows you to continue doing the things Jesus did. Ratification renounces anything that holds you back. It recognizes the challenge God has set before you to reach this lost world. Then it decides, accepts and agrees to meet that challenge. “A” Is for Action | Action! Acts 1:2 next says, “The apostles whom he had chosen.” Apostles are “the appointed ones” or “the sent forth ones.” You are an apostle, and you have been sent forth to accomplish the Great Commission—to take

Jesus never knew a failure.

Hebrews 13:8 is true: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” | There’s a legal contract in Christianity. Acts 1:3 says He spoke “of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.” When I read that I thought, There is legality in the kingdom of God. The greatest miracle Jesus performed was that of forgiving sins. As a joint heir with Jesus, you have legal rights. Before you were saved, sin stood between you and God. But because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, that debt was paid. You are now legally free. Of course Jesus didn’t forgive your sins just for you. He did it so you could take His message to others so that they can be free too! The freedom Christ purchased is for everyone. That’s part of its legality. “L” Is for Legality

| Finally “E” is for: experience, for the enthusiasm of ministering the way Jesus did and for the excitement of being a Jesus person. Acts 1:4 says He “assembled together with them.” Jesus assembled with His

He never met a sin that was too bad to forgive. He never met a sickness He couldn’t heal. In essence, Jesus never met impossibilit y.

action. One of my favorite verses is John 17:18. In it Jesus said, “As [My Father] sent Me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.” You’re one of the appointed ones, and Jesus has sent you to the world. When we take action, God honors it! I discovered this truth as a 13-year-old boy. When someone gave me a toy paper press, I made salvation tracts based on John 3:16. Then I went door-to-door and passed out those tracts. And people got saved. That experience planted a seed in my heart. I didn’t understand it then, but God was showing me the power of the printed word. Today my ministry publishes literature in 132 languages! That’s action! That’s putting the gospel to work, and it’s an important element to having miracle success. “C” Is for Credibility | Success depends on being credible, or reliable, with the gospel. Acts 1:3 says, “he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs.” If Jesus’ ministry hadn’t continued after His death, the gospel wouldn’t have been credible. As one of His disciples, you must demonstrate the same ministry He demonstrated. You must reach out and share His message and power with others. And the gospel is only credible if it is for everyone. If it’s only for a select few, then it’s not trustworthy. It would mean that God prefers some over others. It’s only reliable if

disciples. That tells me everywhere you go, Jesus is there too! I’ve been blessed to see people saved and healed in almost 70 countries. The world needs to hear that Jesus loves them. The world needs to know the experience, enthusiasm and excitement of the Jesus-kind-of-life. | When you teach people who they are in Christ, you teach them how to spell their own miracle. As they mature, live inspired lives that are ratified by Jesus’ blood, take action, understand the credibility and legality of the gospel and crave the experience of living the Jesus-kind-oflife, they can’t help but reach the world for Him. Your life in Christ is a miracle! It’s one you can pass on to others so they can have the same miracle-working power in their lives too. So don’t wait. Christ in you, the hope of glory, has paved the way for you to receive your miracle! Christ in you, the hope of glory, is ready to help you do even more than He did! V ICTOR Y Carrying On

ANGELS a

number of years ago the Lord directed me to start teaching the Body of Christ about angels. When I told God I didn’t know anything about them, He set me straight. Neither does anybody else, He said. That’s the reason I want you to teach it. It’s time the Body of Christ woke up to the supernatural deliverance that I put in the earth for them. So I began studying about these heavenly beings. I discovered the supernatural ministry of angels in the earth is very real. But how effective they can be depends heavily on you and me. We actually can hinder them from doing what they’re created to do. That’s why we must understand their ministry and learn how to cooperate with them according to the Word of God. In Hebrews chapters 1 and 2, we find out that angels are created beings. They aren’t born as men are born, nor do they have the same authority as human beings. But they are created with purpose. Hebrews 1:14 tells us about their ultimate role. “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Who are these “heirs of salvation”? You and me. We are the heirs of salvation and, as such, the “ministering spirits,” or angels, are sent by God to minister for us. What are we heirs of? Salvation—which includes “preservation, healing, soundness and deliverance from temporal evils.”

The Bible gives us numerous accounts of angelic deliverance and protection. Jesus was always aware of their presence. When arrested, He said, “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:53). One Roman legion was 6,000 soldiers. Jesus said one prayer could have called 12 legions—or 72,000—angels to come to His aid. Jesus understood the power of angelic protection. As a “joint heir” with Jesus we can have that same protection. Through prayers and speaking God’s Word we can have that kind of divine protection that comes by the ministry of angels! The apostles Peter and Paul experienced the assistance of angels. On more than one occasion angels delivered Peter from jail (Acts 5:18-20, 12:6-8). Paul was facing shipwreck—a potentially fatal situation. After

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me” (Acts 27:22-25). Now getting that kind of results will do wonders for your prayer life! Angels are “mighty ones who do His commandments, hearkening to the voice of His word” (Psalm 103:20, The Amplified Bible). Angels are an important part of the spirit world. Their assignments are very real. God created them to be available at a moment’s notice to minister for us, and their ministry includes providing divine protection. Salvation Prayer

If you do not know Jesus as your Savior and Lord, simply pray the following prayer in faith, and Jesus will be your Lord! Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your Word says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” and “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9). You said my salvation would be the result of Your Holy Spirit giving me new birth by coming to live in me ( John 3:5-6, 15-16; Romans 8:9-11) and that if I would ask, You would fill me with Your Spirit and give me the ability to speak with other tongues (Luke 11:13; Acts 2:4). I take You at Your Word. I confess that Jesus is Lord. And I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. Thank You for coming into my heart, for giving me Your Holy Spirit as You have promised, and for being Lord over my life. Amen. If you have just prayed this prayer, please contact us and let us know of your decision. We have a free Salvation Package we would like to send you to help you begin your new life in Jesus! From

the time the first Southwest Believers’ Convention was announced in 1981, people began asking how I became one of the speakers. I said, “Because I’m a believer. I preach from the same book. We have the same vision.” k God has called us all according to His divine plan, and we all fit into it. Aren’t you glad we don’t all sound alike? If we did, some people would never get ministered to. That’s why God has raised up such a variety. Together we offer to you the complete ministry of our Lord Jesus. k Ephesians 4:11-13 says, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man….” This scripture lets us know the unity requested in John 17 is on the way in the Body of Christ. It’s beginning to take hold. As I listened to the speakers at the first Southwest Believers’ Convention, I realized that almost every one ministered on subjects they had learned from someone else. And why shouldn’t they? Are we not workers together with the Lord (2 Corinthians 6:1)? Are we not directed by the same Holy Spirit? Then why shouldn’t we feed one another and be used of God to inspire each other? But we haven’t seen anything yet. God is ready and the Church must come into its full maturity and shift into the highest gear of productivity the world has ever known. 25 Y

God keeps revealing to us, in His Word, what He’s doing and what He’s going to do next. Years ago when I was growing up in the Church, I heard people say, “You never know what God is going to do.” We didn’t realize that ’s not what the Word tells us. We are better students of the Word now than any previous generation of the Church. But we don’t have as much time as previous generations had. We must give more diligence to the Word so we can accomplish the tremendous assignment God has given us in the short time remaining.

I didn’t say, was kneeling down by his bed with his notebook and his “Praise God!” I just kept quiet and acted like I was in total Bible out. He would pray in the spirit, then flip through agreement. Sometimes people won’t know you’re ignorant pages of the Bible every once in a while. I thought, That if you’ll just be quiet. looks good. area of his life. You have to understand, I wasn’t on Brother Copeland’s level financially. I was still believing for food on my table and a suit to wear. I was believing for money to give Carolyn and the babies while I was gone. I was believing for rent money, and he was giving airplanes away! So I asked, “Why would you spend more money on the airplane if you’re giving it away? Give God Your Best | He said, “Because I believe in the hundredfold principle.” I knew he was talking about Mark 10:29-30. “What do you mean by that?” I asked. “I don’t want to give an airplane away with bad engines because if I do, I’ll receive a hundredfold return on that seed, and I’ll wind up with a bigger, faster airplane that needs the engines rebuilt,” he explained. “I want to give one away that’s first-class. I’m going to do everything I can to make that airplane first-class when I give it away so that the one I get in return will be first-class.” Approximately 11 days after he sowed the airplane into Joe’s ministry, Brother Copeland called me and asked, “Do you and Carolyn and the girls want to see a miracle?” “We’d love to see a miracle,” I said. “Then meet me at Oak Grove Airport.” We drove out to the airport and saw Brother Copeland, Gloria, Kellie and John standing around the taxi area, just looking down the runway. We walked up behind them and said, “What are you doing?” He said, “I’m watching for my miracle. Just keep your eyes on the end of that runway down there. You’re going to see a miracle.” We just stood there and looked with the rest of them. In a little while, I saw some lights in the distance and I could tell it was an airplane making its final approach. Eleven days after he sowed that seed, he received a bigger, faster airplane completely paid for! We all sat in it and praised God. It was quite a miracle! I was so impressed, I just wanted to give something away—anything. I had been giving but not to that level. I thought, I’m going home and f ind something I can give away. I need a new car—I’ll give the car away. The Lord always protected me. He knew when I was about to make a mistake. He knew I was sincere, but sincerely wrong. The Lord told me, Now before you jump out here and do this, let’s make sure that this is a revelation to you like it is to Brother Copeland. You’re not ready for this, but I’ll get you ready if you’ll listen to Me. I had seen people try to do what Brother Copeland did, and it didn’t work for them the same way. They would wind up blaming the message or the messenger. But there was nothing wrong with the message or the messenger—it simply was not a revelation to them.

You can’t live on someone else’s revelation—it must be a revelation to you. A Revelation to Live By | I learned not to jump up and give everything away just because I saw this miracle in Brother Copeland’s life. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So I kept feeding my spirit, listening to Brother Copeland’s tapes on the laws of prosperity, sowing and reaping, and watching him demonstrate it through his life. And after a while, it did become my revelation. I began to see God bless Carolyn and me. I learned the laws of sowing and reaping by watching Brother Copeland live it and demonstrate it. It became a revelation to me

and it’s still working in my life today. Everything in our ministry has come that way. I’ve given several airplanes away and God has blessed me with better ones. It’s just the way my family and I operate. I encourage you right now, to feed your spirit the Word of God and study the laws of prosperity until they really become a revelation to you. Then put them to work in your life. God will meet your every need. He is faithful! Critical times in our nation’s history have sparked believers to hunger for the manifestation of God’s renewing presence through revival. } When our forefathers arrived on these shores, many were on fire for God with a passion to advance His kingdom. But as the years passed and new generations emerged, that zeal cooled and was replaced by a focus on economic advancement. Godless ideas began to take hold as the Age of Enlightenment swept first across Europe, then America. Church membership was still a requirement to vote in the colonies, so nonbelievers participated out of pure formality. Drunkenness and immorality became commonplace, particularly among the young. } America had begun a downhill slide. But God had a plan. Early Stirrings | Into this cold, complacent atmosphere of 1720 America, Dutch Reformed minister, Theodore J. Frelinghuysen arrived. Fervently preaching the necessity of a real commitment to Christ, Frelinghuysen saw many embrace the “good news” while others resisted change. But God was drawing people into the Church. Early embers of revival began to glow. About 1735, Presbyterian minister William Tennent,

R eady Ready or not, here I come! It’s a phrase we possibly haven’t heard since childhood. But one day soon, we will hear it again...for the very last time.

Not !

t this moment in history there is a shout going up in the spirit. It’s a shout ringing out from the Word of God and from the voices of His prophets. It’s a shout that is shaping the life of every wise believer on the face of the earth. That shout is… N “BEHOLD, THE BRIDEGROOM COMETH!” N The signs of Jesus’ return are all around us. Never before has there been such a time. Never before has it been so crucial that you and I be ready. N Some would say, “Oh Gloria, you can’t be sure of the time. After all, the entire Bible says nobody knows when Jesus is coming. His return will overtake us like a thief in the night.” N If that’s what you’ve been thinking, you’d better go back to the Word and read that scripture again. What it actually says is this: But as to the suitable times and the precise seasons and dates, brethren, you have no necessity for anything being written to you. For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the [return of the] Lord will come [as unexpectedly and suddenly] as a thief in the night. When people are saying, All is well and secure, and, There is peace and safety, then in a moment unforeseen destruction (ruin and death) will come upon them as suddenly as labor pains come upon a woman with child; and they shall by no means escape, for there will be no escape. But you are not in darkness, brethren, for that day to overtake you by surprise like a thief. For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we do not belong either to the night or to darkness. Accordingly then, let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us keep wide awake (alert, watchful, cautious, and on our guard) (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, The Amplified Bible).

If you’re a believer who is ready, Jesus’ return is not going to take you by surprise. You’re a child of the light and you’ll know. You might not know the day or the hour, but you’re going to know the season. In fact I suspect on “that day” those who are ready will sense something great is about to happen. During their prayer time, a spiritual excitement will stir in their hearts. Suddenly they’ll get goose bumps. Their hair might just stand straight up. They will be so connected to God in the spirit, they’ll know something is imminent! I get chills of excitement just thinking about it! I believe with all my heart this is the season of the Lord’s return. But you know what? Even if you don’t agree with me, all you have to do is read the Bible to know we need to stay in a constant state of readiness. Throughout the Word, God tells His people to be ready. In Exodus 19:10-11, He said to Moses, “Go and sanctify the people [set them apart for God] today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, for the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai [in the cloud] in the sight of all the people” (The Amplif ied Bible). Again in Exodus 34:1-2: “The Lord said to Moses.... Be ready and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain” (The Amplif ied Bible).

to be ready means “waiting to be used; unhesitant; willing; convenient; handy to use.” I like that last phrase. We ought to be handy for God to use at any time. When He wants to get someone delivered, He may not have time for us to fast and pray for a week. He wants us to be prayed up. He wants us ready— available immediately! Jesus had some serious things to say about being ready in Matthew 22: The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise (verses 2-5). Let me tell you something: When God is ready, we’d better be ready too. That’s the point of this story. God was ready, but these people weren’t. In fact, God’s invitation was an interruption in their lives—one for which they would not make time. Jesus warned us the devil would use strategies to make us

“Many are called,” Jesus concluded, “but few are chosen”

(Matthew 22:14) .

Why are few chosen? Because most people aren’t ready when God calls them. The same theme continues in the New Testament. Luke 12:39-40 says, “But of this be assured: if the householder had known at what time the burglar was coming, he would have been awake and alert and watching and would not have permitted his house to be dug through and broken into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour and a moment when you do not anticipate it” (The Amplif ied Bible). There is no question about it—you and I must be ready! Just like the military forces of our nation stay in combat readiness, we too must be in combat readiness. By that I mean, we can’t take a vacation from the Word of God. We can’t take a vacation from prayer. We can’t take a vacation from fellowship with God. We must be ready. Not only because Jesus is coming back soon, but also because there’s an enemy with a mission “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” ( John 10:10). If we let Satan catch us off guard, he could do serious damage in our lives. But he’ll have to flee from us if we’re ready and resist him ( James 4:7). What’s Your Priority? | Webster’s dictionary says

just like the people in this parable. He said the devil would try to choke the Word out of our lives through the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things entering into our hearts (Mark 4:19). All of these things were at work in the lives of those who refused to come to the wedding feast. When they heard the invitation, it wasn’t a priority to them. They were busy with the cares of this life. “We have to run our store,” they said. “We have to see to our cattle.” “Many are called,” Jesus concluded, “but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14). Why are few chosen? Because most people aren’t ready when God calls them. God is calling out today: The Bridegroom cometh! The question is, are we going to be ready? Some people may think, Well, it doesn’t seem to me that things are much different than they’ve ever been. I don’t see any reason to get all excited about Jesus coming back. Jesus said there would be people who would think that way about His return. He said it would happen much like the Flood in Noah’s generation: “As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, [men] A U G U S T

marrying and [women] being given in marriage, until the [very] day when Noah went into the ark, and they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away” (Matthew 24:37-39, The Amplif ied Bible). Isn’t that what people were doing in Jesus’ wedding illustration too? They were doing their own thing, going their own way. They were busy—too busy to realize what was about to happen. When Jesus comes back again to earth, those who are in the dark will be acting as usual, doing what they always do. They won’t realize that the end for them is only hours away. As believers, however, you and I are not to be in the dark. We’re not to be out merchandising and giving our time to the things of this world. We’re to be walking in the spirit. We’re to be ready!

five actually heard the shout that they decided to get ready. “And while they went to buy,” it says, “the bridegroom came” (Matthew 25:10). Have you ever noticed with some people that their timing is always off? But if you listen to the Spirit of God, your timing is good. You’ll be at the right place at the right time. “While they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.” Are you ready...or not? It’s a serious question. The answer to it matters more than anything else in your life. If you’re going to be ready, you can’t just ride the tide. You have to get into God’s Word and be ready to obey the Spirit of God. You have to be ready to move, to act immediately.

Shake Them and Wake Them Up | Read Jesus’ parable about the 10 virgins waiting for the bridegroom. Five were wise and five were foolish. When the bridegroom was a long time in coming, they fell asleep. Notice that. They all fell asleep. “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him” (Matthew 25:6). Listen to me now: That’s where I believe we are today. I think it’s midnight. It’s time to shake all the born-again believers and wake them up. “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh! Go out to meet Him!” God is saying to us, Come out to meet Me now. Meet Me! Don’t wait until the end overtakes you. Come out and meet Me now! We go out and meet God by making an effort to do the things that will keep us in close communion with Him. If we’ll walk in the light now, in that moment when He returns, we won’t be in the dark. We’ll know and be ready. “Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves” (Matthew 25:7-9). Being ready is something nobody else can do for you. No matter how spiritual your wife or your husband is, they can’t get you ready. You must get yourself ready! You must buy your own oil. “Now it is high time to awake out of sleep,” Paul says in Romans 13:11-12, “for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” This is not the time to be lazy about spiritual things. This is not the time to ride the fence. A separation of light and darkness is coming and either you’re going to go on with God or you’re going back. In the story of the 10 virgins, it wasn’t until the foolish

A Faithful Servant Is Ready | We’re living in a critical time. Not only have you and I never been at this place in our lives before, the world has never been where it is now. We’re coming to the end of the age. We must get to the place where we hear from God and do what He says—where we stay ready and waiting to be used. It won’t work to wait until the last moment and then try to get ready. We are the Church. We have a job to do before He comes. We must have our oil with us and go out to meet Him. We’re not just waiting for Him to arrive—spiritually speaking, we’re going out to meet Him! Matthew 24:44-45 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?” Right there in my Bible beside that question, “Who then is a faithful and wise servant?” I’ve written, “Gloria!” You do the same thing. Write your name by that verse and say, “Lord, I’m going to be a faithful and wise servant. I’m going to be ready.” It’s the midnight hour and Jesus will be here soon. We have a few days. I don’t know how many. I don’t know if it’s a week, a year, two years or a few more—but we can be ready. We can be a bright light in a dark world. Don’t sit down. Don’t hold back. Rise up in this hour and shine. Become on fire. At this moment you may be a housewife, a mother, a mechanic, a businessman. Whatever God has put in your heart to do, don’t put it off. There is no time to waste. God desires for you to shine during these last few years. He wants you to shine like a bright light and overcome the darkness. He wants you to shine so people around you can see His glory and come to know Him personally. It won’t be long till the waiting is over. It won’t be long until you look up and see His glory fill the sky. That’s the day you want to be ready because it’s about to come...ready or not! V ICTOR Y

I

In October 1981, John and I had been invited to be special guests for the opening of the Oral Roberts City of Faith Medical and Research Center in Tulsa, Okla. Our son Paul was a student at the Oral Roberts Medical School at the time, so we were thrilled about being a part of that great celebration. > During the first day, we had a wonderful time, but that night I began to experience symptoms of illness. I felt a bit fuzzy in my mind, and I had chills and a fever. These symptoms got progressively worse for the next three weeks. I was unable to sleep, and I became extremely weak. After a few weeks, I became jaundiced and other symptoms and pains began to appear. During this time, I kept trying to do my housework and take part in all the church services. I especially remember a service when I had knelt down to pray for a lady, and was so weak that I couldn’t get up. I had to crawl over to a chair to pull myself up. Nobody knew, not even me, how sick I was. John and I believed and confessed God’s Word. We sought God and agreed together in prayer. I was anointed with oil according to James 5:14-15. I did everything I knew to do… but I got worse. We decided I should see a doctor. We called the City of Faith but they were full, so they recommended a doctor in our own city of Houston. I saw a wonderful Christian physician whose specialty is internal medicine. After examining me, he said, “Mrs. Osteen, I think you should go into the hospital for some tests.” I consented to go, thinking I would be there for only two or three days. It turned out to be 20. I had just about every kind of test there is. The doctors’ first diagnosis was a liver abscess, probably caused from some germ picked up on one of our mission trips. They treated me with a medication which had many side effects including nausea and depression. The medicine also made me unable to think clearly. I became terribly weak and could hardly get out of bed. 25 Y

Further tests confounded the first diagnosis and more sophisticated tests were ordered. Finally, one day the doctor came into my room and said, “I have sent some blood work to Cincinnati.” “Why would you do that?” I asked. “There are plenty of excellent hospitals here in Houston.” He replied, “This is just for my own peace of mind. But I feel sure there is no malignancy in your body.” Malignancy! I was astounded by that word! The possibility of cancer had never entered my mind. I had always been so healthy! For years I had confessed I would never have cancer or any other disease. When he said that, I thought, This is not what I expected at all. I don’t want the word cancer ever mentioned in my room again. I called John on the telephone and told him what the doctor had said. “I don’t want you to say the word cancer,” I said, “because I don’t have cancer. I will not have cancer!” December 10, when John came to the hospital, the doctor met him with devastating news. He said, “Pastor, your wife has metastatic cancer of the liver. With or without chemotherapy, she has only a few weeks to live. We can treat her, but it will only slightly prolong her life. However, we

cannot find the primary tumor.… Usually a primary tumor signifies the beginning of cancer and then it spreads to the liver or kidneys or some other organ. But we cannot find one. With your consent, we would like to do exploratory surgery or a colonoscopy to try to locate the tumor.” John couldn’t believe it. He said, “Doctor, I am going to take my wife home. We are going to pray and seek God, and then we will decide what to do. We believe in miracles, and we believe in the Miracle Worker.” I went home that day and never did go back to the hospital. However my advice is, if you have cancer and you can be helped by chemotherapy, by all means take it if you feel you should. Do whatever you feel peace about in your heart. I do not advise anyone to do what I did just because it worked for me. The doctors gave me only a few weeks to live with or without chemotherapy, and I chose not to have it. But God leads and directs each of us individually. While I was in the hospital, I was so weak and my senses were so dulled by medication that I depended heavily on other people’s prayers and faith. I received phone calls from Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland and Daisy and T.L. Osborn. Most of all, I depended on my husband who was a great teacher of the Word of God. He constantly encouraged me and spoke the Word to me. I also relied on the people of Lakewood Church who were praying and fasting for me. The prayers of others had to “carry” me during this time. Healed People Don’t Stay in Bed | Soon after I came home, however, I realized my healing was a personal matter between me and Jesus. Once in the early morning hours, God spoke to my heart: It is not your husband’s faith; it is not Oral Roberts’ faith; it is not Kenneth Hagin’s faith; it is YOUR faith that you must go on now. I knew it was between me and Jesus from that time on. I never did go to bed to be cared for by others after I came home from the hospital. I felt that if I did, it would demonstrate unbelief and undermine my faith. I went to bed only at night during normal sleeping hours. I wouldn’t even take a nap. John and I believed in the power of the prayer of agreement. Jesus said, “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19, New King James Version). So the day after I came home from the hospital, I asked John to pray

John Osteen

with me. I said, “Darling, you are the head of this house. You are going to have to take authority over this cancer in my body. We must agree that God is going to heal me and make me whole.” John anointed me with oil as we both got on the floor in our bedroom, face down before God, and he took authority over any disease and over any cancerous cells in my body. That was December 11, 1981, and that’s the day my healing began. I had confidence in God’s Word that I was healed. But my body did not completely line up with that truth. I still felt ill and had many symptoms, but in my heart I knew I was healed! It took a long time for the symptoms to go. Many times I felt like saying, “Jesus, it would be so much easier just to give up the fight and go on to be with You.” Instead though, I read Isaiah 43:25-26: “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted” (NKJV). In spite of every discouraging symptom, my heart knew God’s Word could not lie. Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (NKJV). Day by day, I gained hope and encouragement from the precious promises in God’s Word. I read and confessed the Scriptures daily. And today I am still alive, full of energy and very active! Jesus hasn’t changed. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His healing power is available today for you also. V ICTOR Y Adapted from Dodie Osteen’s book Healed of Cancer. Nothing Missing, Nothing Broken

Sam Galloway drove to work with a song on his lips. He’d worked long and hard in radio and television for 20 years, and finally he would reap the reward. Today, he would officially become a radio station manager and a permanent resident of Amarillo, Texas! % It had been years since Sam had been permanent anywhere. He’d started working part-time as a radio announcer in high school at age 15. From there he’d become a sports announcer on television while doing news and weather stints. Eventually he had graduated to program director. Sam had a knack for getting a sagging radio or television station pepped up and profitable. But he’d paid a price for his success. As soon as one station became profitable, he was transferred to another. Over the years he’d uprooted his family so often, they hardly knew where “home” was. % When the station he’d worked for in Albuquerque sold, he was given orders to move to Amarillo. That was one move Sam had welcomed. He and his wife, Billie, had yearned to return to their home state of Texas and they were bone tired of moving. They wanted to put down roots and settle in one place for a while. Amarillo might just be the place they could do it.

Sam and Billie Galloway

“I’m tired of moving around,” Sam had explained to management. “I’ll tell you what,” his boss had said, “you move to Amarillo and spend a year or two getting this station profitable, and I’ll make you the manager.” You might as well have hung a carrot in front of a horse as to dangle a management position at a station in Texas before Sam Galloway’s eyes. He moved his family to Amarillo and worked at a fevered pitch to make that station viable. He’d always given his best, but this wasn’t just a job. He was resurrecting what would be his station in his hometown. He and Billie would let their roots grow deep into the West Texas soil. Their daughter, Candace, would start school here and hopefully, graduate here. He’d accomplished the impossible. Instead of taking a year or more to get the station on its feet, Sam had completed the mission in only six months. Today he would meet with his boss and be promoted to manager. Life is good, he thought as he pulled into his parking space and looked at the station where he would invest years of his life. “Congratulations! You did an amazing job by bringing this project in well ahead of schedule. Now you’re moving to Fort Worth!” Sam’s world tilted on its axis and he saw only one way to set it straight. A few hours later Sam pulled into his driveway and walked inside like a man being led to the gas chamber. Five-year-old Candace threw herself into his arms. Billie looked at him with excitement sparkling in her eyes. “Tell me everything,” she said. “Honey, I don’t know how to tell you this…I quit my job.” | “I didn’t want to work for someone who wouldn’t honor his word,” Sam explains. “Quitting my job seemed the right thing to do at the time, but on the drive home all I could think about was my responsibility to my wife and child. The hardest thing I ever did was to tell Billie I was unemployed. Her response stunned me. She said, ‘Praise the Lord! I’ve been praying that God would get you out of there!’ “Within 12 hours I landed a job selling insurance. I was really good at it and made quite a bit of money, but I didn’t like it. Six months later I accepted a job as driver supervisor in the trucking industry. And in 1971 we moved to North Platte, Neb. Although it wasn’t Texas, we were able to put down roots and stay in one place for almost nine years. Our son, Chad, was born there. And we made some good friends.” Soon after Sam and Billie moved to Nebraska, Billie’s mother sent them a set of tapes and said, “You’ve got to listen to these!” The tapes were messages by Kenneth Copeland. In 1979, one of the drivers came back from a trip to California and told Sam, “I’ve just been to heaven and New Spiritual and Physical Roots

back!” Heaven had been the very first West Coast Believers’ Convention. “I bought the tapes,” the trucker said. “Do you want to hear them?” Sam and Billie devoured each tape and were hungry for more. | Later that year Sam got a call from the corporate office in California. “Sam, do you want to go back home to Texas?” “I point my car south every day waiting for this call,” Sam answered with a slow smile. One week later Sam received orders transferring him to Dallas. Leaving Billie at home to sell the house, Sam pointed his car south for the last time. The ice that covered the highway in treacherous sheets clung to the trees. Everything glistened white as Sam inched his car along the side of the road trying to find traction on the shoulder. Seventy miles south of North Platte, he crept onto a crossroad and the car spun out of control, sliding down a 30-foot embankment. A Present Help in Times of Trouble

“When I call and pray with Partners who have been hit by a tornado or hurricane, I never have to wonder what Kenneth and Gloria would say.

I’ve had 25 years of on-the-job training at the Southwest Believers’ Conventions.”

Heart hammering, Sam pried his fingers loose from the steering wheel and did a quick assessment. No injuries! He pushed the car door open and stepped out into the ice and snow. He could be down here for days before anyone found him. Lord, how am I going to get out of here? “Hey!” Sam followed the sound to the top of the embankment where a man suddenly appeared. “I’ve got a rope! Tie it on and we’ll get you out of there!” Within an hour his car was back up on the road. Sam walked around the vehicle praising God. There wasn’t any damage! Nothing was broken. Back behind the wheel, Sam tuned in to a local radio station and heard that the storm, blowing in from Colorado, was gathering strength. I’ll turn east and get ahead of it, Sam thought. He found himself alone on desolate stretches of icy road. The icy ribbon of road wound its way up a long hill, but Sam’s car slid back down it. At the bottom, he put the car in low gear and started back up, only to slide down again. Almost instinctively, he looked into his rearview mirror. There, lumbering up behind him, was a truck sanding the road! Minutes later, Sam followed the trail of sand up the hill. Twenty-six hours after leaving home, Sam Galloway pulled into Dallas.

| “We moved back to Texas in 1980,” Sam recalled. “That next year we wanted to do something special to celebrate our wedding anniversary which is August 3. KCM was holding their first Southwest Believers’ Convention the first week in August and we decided that attending the convention would be the best way to celebrate our anniversary. “Each morning we got up at 4 so we could be at the front door of the convention center by 5 a.m. Standing in line for three hours was a treat as we visited with other believers from all over the country. We usually got back home by midnight, and then were up at 4 a.m. to do it all again. By the end of the week we were so spiritually energized by the meetings that we decided to always celebrate our anniversary at the convention.” True to their decision, Sam and Billie Galloway have

two groups (along with 220 other locations worldwide) took the most holy sacrament of Communion. “We all began to praise God, every person in his or her own language,” Sam remembered. “We experienced unity that stretched from one side of the world to the other.” It was a beautiful sound to hear. The people present at the convention that year may never see the same faces again this side of heaven, but for one brief moment those brothers and sisters in Christ looked into each other’s eyes and worshiped the God of all grace. Divine Purpose | In 2000 at the age of 62, Sam Galloway took early retirement. “My heart just wasn’t in my job anymore,” he said. But afterward he realized he didn’t want to sit around all day. What have I done? I walked away from a perfectly good job!

“Something happened that changed us all,” Sam remembered. “It was like we shifted gears in the spirit.” attended every Southwest Believers’ Convention for the past 25 years! What was it like to attend 25 years of conventions? Thanks for the Memories | “Every convention has been powerful, but there are some highlights that we’ll never forget. At one of the earliest conventions, Norvel Hayes ministered to Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, and Buddy and Pat Harrison. They each fell out under the power of the Holy Spirit. Norvel knelt near the edge of the stage groaning in the Spirit. “For 30 to 45 minutes, an awe and reverential silence descended over thousands of people in the Tarrant County Convention Center. No one spoke or stirred as God’s presence did a holy work. Something happened that changed us all,” Sam remembers. “It was like we shifted gears in the spirit. That night God moved us into a new and deeper worship that was life changing.” Then in 1983 their 10-year-old son, Chad, had a lifechanging experience in the Willie George services for children—he received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. “That was definitely a highlight for us!” Breaking Bread Together | But the most memorable convention for the Galloways may well have been in 1982 when KCM hosted a World Communion Service live via satellite. The Tarrant County Convention Center was packed to capacity as a satellite feed sent images of Paul (David) Yonggi Cho and his congregation to a huge screen. The group in Korea saw, via satellite, the crowd in Fort Worth. Together for the first time in history, the

Once again God had all the times and seasons of Sam’s life in His nail-scarred hands. That very year, unexpectedly, the company Sam had worked for went bankrupt. The people still working for the company at the time of its collapse lost half their retirement. Still Sam was bored. One day he pulled up KCM’s Web site and checked for job openings. There’s nothing I’m qualified to do, he thought as he scrolled down the list of job opportunities. Wait…“Outbound Telephone Calls.” I have 20 years experience in television and radio, and 30 years communicating with truckers. I can do this job! On December 30, 2002, Sam Galloway went to work for Kenneth Copeland Ministries. “I’m having the time of my life!” Sam says enthusiastically. “When I call and pray with Partners who have been hit by a tornado or hurricane, I never have to wonder what Kenneth and Gloria would say. I’ve had 25 years of on-the-job training at the Southwest Believers’ Conventions.” This year Sam and Billie Galloway will celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary at the Fort Worth Convention Center. What have 35 years of partnership with this ministry meant to them? “I’m prosperous, healthy and happy at age 67,” Sam says. “My life has been a lot like that trip through an ice storm so long ago. When I’ve had a problem, God has met me in a miraculous way. I’ve never suffered tragedy, sickness or trauma.” In their lives, Sam and Billie have experienced the blessing and peace of God—they’ve had nothing missing, nothing broken. That may well be the greatest testimony of all. V ICTOR Y

God Pampered Us at SWBC! On July 31, 2003, my husband told me that the Lord had spoken to him and he was going to the SWBC, even if he had to sleep in the truck. I came up with every reason I could think of not to go such as finances, truck needing repair, etc., but he was determined. On Sunday as he was getting ready to go, I decided to go too. We left home that evening praying in the spirit and having a good time when about 250 miles from Fort Worth the transmission went out and we could go no faster than 35 mph. After a long, sleepless night, we got to the convention center just in time for the morning session. We missed the afternoon session to find a place to stay. We had only enough for two nights, b God had other plans. An usher w met that first day found us later and gave us $100. Every time we turned around, God had someone bless us! My husband finally asked a lady who blessed us with lunch money if we were that transparent. She told us the Lord wanted to pamper us that week—and did He ever! It was so much more than we ever expected. We made some wonderful new friends and look forward to next year. C.P. | Texas

Supercharged Faith Stills the Storm After my son and I left the 2004 Southwest Believers’ Convention, we came home to find Hurricane Charley fast approaching, but our faith was supercharged and ready to rebuke the winds! We live in Port Charlotte, Fla., which was almost at the center of the storm and only one to two miles from the water. We had no phone, water or power for a time, but other than that we suffered no loss due to the storm. My home is surrounded by oak trees and many fell around us but none touched my condo. My son and I were unscathed! W were able to stay with friends until power was restored and since my work is done via the Internet, I only lost minimal wages. I just had to brag on our Lord!

Miracle Business The first year we went to the Southwest Believers’ Convention we were living from paycheck to paycheck wondering how we would ever get out of debt, save any money for weddings (we have three daughters and one son) or retirement. We were tithers but not givers. Friends encouraged us to go to the Believers’ Convention in Fort Worth, so we took a week’s vacation to attend. We struggled to give just a couple of dollars in each of the offerings. One night we were impressed to give by faith the huge sum of $25. The next year we had increased and were able to give a little more. The third year we could hardly wait to get to Fort Worth and give. We had saved an extra $1,000 to give along with our other offerings. We were so excited to give that thousand dollars! Four months later the most amazing thing happened! My husb was able to purchase, with a co-worker, the construction busi ness they worked for. It was a huge God deal! In addition to now owning the company, he received a bonus check for $170,000—over a hundredfold return on the seed we had sown! God has continued to bless our business and increase it. Thank you for your teaching on sowing and reaping. KCM is good ground to sow into! God bless you!

SWBC: A Major Turning Point My husband, Jerry, and I went to the Believers’ Convention in Fort Worth for the whole week, or most of it, 11 years in a row from that first one in 1981. It was always a major turning point for us each year and brought us so much joy and enrichment in the Word of God. It is like a family reunion of believers. Since Jerry went home to be with the Lord, I still listen to the events online and am grateful to partner with faith “generals.” It is a priceless gift to me. Thank you for everything and your faithfulness. God bless you! Pam Strickler | Escondido, Calif.

My Life Is Not the Same I am not sure whether I came in 1981 or ’82, but my life has never been the same. I’ve made plenty of mistakes but I know one thing—Jesus is my KING. KCM has helped me t in my Christian walk. I pray for you and know He hears your prayers. Diana Ewing | Missouri

A Call to Ministry I was introduced to Brother Copeland’s ministry at the 1981 Southwest Believers’ Convention. It was here that I began to sense my own call to the ministry. We moved to California in 1985 and began our own ministry. We have since moved back to Texas and our ministry has increased. I consider Brother Copeland a spiritual father to me because it was his influence, anointing and ministry that gave birth to mine. It all started at the 1981 Southwest Believers’ Convention! Al Gluchoski | Texas

Baskin’ in the Victory I came to the convention in August 2002. I had been confessing divine health f rom the top of my head to the very soles of my feet and all parts in between. My manifestation came as I was watching Gloria Copeland pray for my friend and the Spirit of God said to me, Now when Gloria lays her hands on your friend, you receive your healing right then. The one thing I desired the most was to be healed of lactose intolerance. I had put up with not being able to digest milk products no matter how small the amount for 26 years. God totally eradicated it from my body. I have had ice cream, cottage cheese and lasagna and am now totally free of all sickness and disease—and pain free!

the True

JUDGMENT OF GOD There’s no question about it, we have entered the days of judgment. % Don’t let that f righten you, however, because according to the Bible, all judgment is not bad. Judgment can bring blessing and reward just like it can bring destruction and loss. It all depends which side you’re on when judgment comes. If you’re on the side of righteousness, judgment brings rejoicing. % Jesus proved that.

IN THE TIME OF OVERFLOW WILL RECEIVE THE JUDGMENT OF GOD.

joyous

When He was raised from the dead and presented before the throne of God, He was judged righteous and God said to Him: “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows” (Hebrews 1:8-9). The day Jesus was judged was a joyful day for Him. That was the day He was anointed with more gladness than anybody had ever experienced before! “Yeah, but Brother Copeland, I’m not Jesus,” you may say. “I’m not perfect like He is. I make mistakes and I’m not too excited about being judged for them.” I understand that. We’re all in that situation to some degree. But the Bible says if we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we get in on His judgment. We end up on the side of righteousness—not because we’ve done everything

In the spirit realm, the ground is hot right now! Seeds are coming up big-time in 2005—both good and bad. perfectly and haven’t made any mistakes, but because “he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). The High Way or the Hard Way?

| That’s what I call

shoutin’ ground right there! As believers, we ought to thank God every day that the most fearsome aspect of God’s judgment has already been settled in our lives. Because we’ve put our trust in Jesus and received His righteousness, our eternal destiny is settled. We’ll never experience the wrath of God. We’ll never know the darkness and torment of eternal separation from Him. We’re headed for heaven. We’ll spend forever fellowshiping with our heavenly Father and letting Him lavish His grace and kindness on us! “Well, if that’s the case,” somebody might say, “I guess it doesn’t really matter how I live. If I’ve already been judged

righteous with Jesus I’ll get to heaven regardless of what I do on earth.” You may get to heaven all right, but the question is: Do you want to get there on the high way of blessing…or the hard way of disappointment? Do you want to bound joyfully into heaven’s gates having been blessed to be a blessing to multitudes during your lifetime? Or do you want to slip in with nothing but a lifetime of loss? No doubt you want to get there on the high way of blessing. And you can do it if you’ll just pay attention to God’s Word. You can do it if you’ll just obey instructions like those in Zechariah 7:9-10 which say: “Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.” Recently I was reading those verses and the Spirit of God spoke to me so strongly it almost shook me. He said, Obey today or sorrow tomorrow. I immediately grabbed a pen and wrote that down. I knew it wasn’t just a little cliché. It wasn’t some T-shirt slogan. It was a word from the Lord. God was telling me that our actions today are the seeds of tomorrow’s harvest. Tomorrow is just waiting to see what we say and do today. | There’s really nothing new about that fact. The spiritual and natural law of seedtime and harvest has been operating in the earth ever since Creation. But right now it’s operating more quickly than it has before. Why? Because as the Lord said to me at the beginning of this year, we’ve entered the time of overflow, which is also known as the time of harvest or the time of judgment. (Overflow, harvest and judgment are three different words but spiritually they are the same thing.) Seeds are coming up big-time in 2005—both good and bad. We’re living in days like those Amos was prophesying about when he said: “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader A Speedy Harvest

of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt” (Amos 9:13). We’re living in days of judgment when the spiritual seeds we plant come up so fast that the sower, the plowman and the reaper must all walk side by side. In the spirit realm, the ground is so hot right now that if you put a seed in it, the guy next to you is harvesting it as soon as you sow it. That would be a speedy harvest even if you were planting wheat or corn. It would mean you received at once something that usually took a year to grow. But Amos 9:13 isn’t talking about wheat and corn—it’s referring to grapes. It usually takes at least seven years for a grapevine to produce decent grapes. So this is some supernatural vineyard! It’s producing in an instant the kind of harvest that usually comes only after seven or eight years!

Then repent—quick! Ask forgiveness in the Name of Jesus and receive a rapid, supernatural crop failure. Let His blood wash your vineyard clean and start planting seeds of obedience right away. Then you can be like the man who “goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, [you] shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing [your] sheaves [or harvest] with [you]” (Psalm 126:6)!

| On the other hand, if you have been planting seeds of obedience and you’re still not seeing the overflow of blessing that’s been prophesied, then check your love life. That’s what the Lord told me to do as I was praying about overflow one day. I said, “Lord, I know You’re the God who causes my cup to run over. You’re not a God of just enough—You’ve always been the God of more than enough. You’re the God of too much. What’s more, we’re A Time to Be Glad | Only God Himself can bring forth in the time of overflow. So why am I still struggling to a harvest like that. As John 15:1 says, He is the husbandman fully receive it?” or farmer. We can plant and we can water, but only God In answer to my question, the Lord had me take a good can give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). look at Matthew 22:37-40: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all H e s a i d , O b ey t o d a y o r s o r r ow t o m o r r ow . the law and the prophets.” Receiving an overflow of blessing depends on What happens when God begins to give that kind of whether or not I’m loving God and my neighbor. Not only supernatural overflow or harvest of increase? that, the Lord corrected me about something I’ve thought His people are freed from captivity (Amos 9:14) and the for 38 years. Since I began in ministry, I’ve always believed I seeds they have planted “…shall be prosperous; the vine was called to preach the Word. To me, preaching the Word shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, was primary. And though that’s true—it’s not complete. and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the My first responsibility is keeping the commandment of remnant of this people to possess all these things. Loving God and loving people is your hands be strong” (Zechariah 8:12-13). No. 1 priority. No matter what other seeds of obedience Those who plant seeds of obedience in the time of you might plant, no matter what other good things you overflow will receive the joyous judgment of God. They’ll might do, if you don’t plant them in love they won’t produce be so blessed themselves and such a blessing to others that a harvest. they’ll be saying what the psalmist said in Psalm 126:1-3: After all, you can’t get an overflow harvest without faith, “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we and faith works by love.
