Photography was never an art path I’d considered when I first had the thought that I wanted to create something. Nevertheless, after years of trying everything from painting to pottery, I stumbled upon the world of images, and it’s been one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Each time I take a photo of a subject, I plan out everything from composition to timing, and that’s what makes me ecstatic to continue in this path. My progression has led to many golden opportunities including working with a prestigious museum, and it's thrilling to see where I’m going from here. Of course, not everything I capture is going to stir up the same emotions in the same people, but that’s just what makes every shot count, knowing that no matter how I do it, someone, somewhere, is going to feel something from my work. And there’s not a better feeling than that. 10

4H Sewing Club NAVAL BASE GUAM SCHOOL AGE CARE (NBG SAC) By Christine Monroe, SLO Since 4H began more than 100 years ago, it has become the nation’s largest youth development organization. The 4H idea is simple: help young people and their families gain the skills needed to be proactive forces in their communities and develop ideas for a more innovative economy. February 2020 was the start of a new 4H Sewing Club at NBG SAC. Three volunteers along with CYP staff meet on Tuesday afternoons with the 16 registered club members to learn about sewing careers and to develop skills through sewing projects. Each club meeting starts with the pledge that is recited in every 4H club in the US and on military bases around the world. The projects for this club were selected by SAC youth at a focus group in November. Youth learn about tools of the trade in a game they play each week. They develop technical skills beginning with threading needles, hand sewing, and sewing straight
seams on a machine. The club also voted to contribute to the community by designing personal squares to be added in a patriotic quilt that will be donated to the VA Guam Medical Center for one of the vets.
LOVE Andersen CDC creates opportunities for parents/ families to spend time and become actively involved in their child’s social and academic development.
