Margie Barker, a Helotes based artist, turned 81 yrs. old in March of 2015, and prides herself on a signature impressionist aesthetic of her beloved Texas landscape. Mrs. Barker is one of three J.R. Mooney Gallery artists participating in the Boerne Professional Artist 2015 “Parade of Artists” showcase. J.R. Mooney Galleries—Boerne is proud to represent her artwork for this Hill Country event.
Longevity almost equates knowledge and maturity in today’s cultural assimilations, and artists creating artwork in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s often remark that they are just coming to understand painting, drawing or medium of their choice; proclaiming decades of achieving a mastery is inevitably only a beginning to a greater understanding of their own art. Margie Barker undeniably fits into this category. She was trained in oil painting techniques and transitioned into acrylics later in her career. After having two cataract surgeries in the early part of 2015, Barker’s paintings have a new sense of vitality mixed with unquestionable accuracy and detail.
