Omni Worship Center is a project that is based on the 2023 ASCA Steel Competition. Schools were tasked with creating a meditation/prayer space placed on their campus. Our main goal with this design was to create a journey between the sacred and profane. As well as a place for guests to communicate and learn about new religions and cultures. The project was worked on by the following: Jackson Rogers Anna Hamling, Reece Petersen, and Fernando Lara-Lopez.

The east elevation depicts the focal point of Omni Worship Center, worship and meditation space. It offers a complex network of steel on display for guests to view.

Section A shows the relationship between the outdoor space and of the entrances into the worship space. Additionally, it captures a segment of the bridge that seamlessly links the main building to the worship center.

The north elevation unveils the entrance to Omni Worship Center, offering a glimpse into the library and meditation space located within another section of the building.

Section B depicts the connection point between the library and meditation space cantilevered over the outdoor meditation space below.

Overall Structural Elements Vertical Support- scourced from Pacific Steel & Recycling, the bridge is supported by structural steel tubing. The recycled steel molds are primed for many conditions from hot and dry to cold and wet. Both vertical and angled supports work together to develop a rigid, elevated system. Storefront- recycled aluminum framing must be purchased from Wausau Wind and Wall Systems. The company prides themsleves on their ability to reuse aluminum by melting parts together and extruding them into brand new storefront systems. Rebar- rebar is commonly used as a tension device in reinforced concrete. Concrete Slab- concrete is used as a finishing material for this bridge. The bridge itself is designed as a scaled down version of an overpass bridge. The finished concrete must be poured in sections starting at the end of the bridge

Bridge Floor Detail Longitudal Rebar- elevated and tied together at 6” O.C. The rods are bent and leveled as the backbone of the bridge. Inner Diaphragm- the first few yards of concrete are to be poured into the inner diaphragm after all rebar as been placed. Once the concrete hardens within the diaphragm, the rebar is locked in place. Steel Tubing- the structural steel tubing is surrounded by steel couplings that allow for the bracket to be secured to the vertical supports. Rebar Sleeve- the sleeve serves as a transition from the bracket to the rebar. Once the rebar slips through the sleeve, it is nearly impossible to move by hand. Pouring Hole- pouring holes give access to the cement crane to fill the inner diaphragm.

Bridge Roof Detail 1 Vertical Support Cap- at the top of each vertical support is a cap. The

cap prevents water from entering the pipes. It also transitions the pipe to the decorative spans that stretch over the outdoor gathering space.

2 Vertical Support Cap Hinge and Bolts- the hinge is a custom welded feature including thick, recycled metal materuial and 1 1/2” wide bolts

3 Spanning Feature Structual Elements- the skeletal structure of the spanning decorative elements.

4 Lightweight Aluminum Tubing- is tack welded to the structural elements of the spanning feature

“Koolhaas carries this ambition to extremes by trans-programming the building to become an architectural incubator of public space... The primary function of the continuous surface essentially lies in the fact that this new public sphere is not a monadic reserve but remains connected with the existing city, which can influence retroactively. The concept of infrastructural ground is further developed in a series of projects by Koolhaas’ successors, in particular, Osanbashi Pier, Yokohama and Metacity/Datatown, The Netherlands.”

Wooden House Arch 230: Design Material and Assembly Lab-Kenneth Lewno

The wooden house project was a project that was designed to help students sharpen their skills with a variety of power tools, located in the school wood shop. It also gave students an insight on how a house is constructed. Our groups goal with this project was to do something unique compared to the previous projects and groups. We decided to model the foundation with small wooden rectangles, representing concrete cinder blocks. We also added a basement to our house to provide insight on how the structure would look, as well as a lower sloped roof. The project was worked on by the following: Jackson Rogers, Dillon Trevino, and Ryan Tompkins

Metamorpha Terminus Arch 354: Research Studio Dr. Seddighi

Metamorpha Terminus is a potential Transit Hub design located adjacent to South Eastern Ave and 26th Street in Sioux Falls, SD. The goal of this studio was to research the concept of liminality, which is the essence of spaces existing between spaces. In the beginning stages we were assigned to discover and try to grasp the concept of liminality. Through the creations of collages and prototypes, we were then assigned to create a transit hub relfecting the concept of liminality. The project was worked on by the following: Jackson Rogers, Matthew Woldt, Ryle Koistinen
