Knollapalooza. A full-day music festival held every spring in a grassy expanse called The Knoll, dozens of local bands and student groups take to the stage playing everything from rock to rap to folk music. It's a fun way to unwind before final exams.
Chair Massage. Mousing around on Facebook© all day puts a lot of strain on the neck and hands! That's why the Campus Ministry Center offers professional chair massages every Wednesday. Your neck and shoulders will thank you.
Spring Fling. Get dressed up. Nice dinner. Dancing. Cool location. Need we say more?
Hauntitorium. Deep in the bowels of E.M. Pearson Theatre lies a chamber of horrors that opens once a year - on Halloween weekend. Enter - if you dare. Holden Evening Prayer. It's one of many worship opportunities available on campus, but it's perfect for students on the run from morning to night. It's held Thursdays at 10 p.m. - a great way to end the day. Nerf© Tag. This week-long contest pitches students into a game of stealth, endurance and strategy to tag other competitors with a nerf© ball. Only the most steely-minded competitor will be named champion.
Annual 'Wurst und 'Kraut Eating Contest. Every year at homecoming, student, faculty/staff and alumni teams face off in a five-minute pig-out to see which team can consume the most bratwurst and sauerkraut. Coffee House. Once a month, the Student Union hosts outside acts and student performers for a casual music café with coffee and other treats. It's a fun way to just kick back with friends. Running of the Bears. Once a semester the Cross Country team opens practice to the campus, so you can have a good long run with our Golden Bears runners. Can We Talk. These periodic discussions led by the Dean of Diversity and regularly attended by President Holst, cover a range of topics relating to campus life, culture, diversity and other social issues.

Martin Luther Statue. Not only did the ideas of this German monk and theologian help inspire the Protestant Reformation, his statuarial likeness still guides students. The statue is such a high-profile campus landmark that all you have to do is say “meet me at Luther”and everyone knows where to be.

Calling Concordia Home Living on campus is a great way to stay connected with friends and get involved in extracurricular activities. Frankly, living on campus just makes life easier. No time wasted on commuting, your friends are just down the hall when you want to hang out, and your room is right there when you need a quick nap (a student essential, trust us on this one!) All first-year students live on campus (unless living at home with their family).
Finding Your Roommate Sharing your space with someone else may be a new experience for you, but our residence life director has more than 20 years of experience matching up roommates. When you apply for housing you'll also complete a questionnaire about your lifestyle, likes and dislikes, academic and extracurricular interests, etc. All these factors help in matching you with a compatible roommate.

Get a Real (Faith) Life
School Spirit—Go Bears! Concordia is the only private college in Minnesota competing in the NCAA Division II with 15 teams competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Since entering Division II in 1999, our teams have won more than a dozen conference titles and made numerous regional and national championship appearances.
It's not just about going to church on Sunday (though we definitely encourage you to go!) It's about reaching beyond the walls of the church … getting involved … exploring your beliefs … being a servant-leader. Whatever point you're at on your spiritual path, we're here to guide you on that unique journey. Our approach is distinctly Lutheran, but we understand that many faith traditions converge on our campus. We strive to make each and every student feel welcome and accepted - whatever their beliefs. At Concordia, you have a wide range of options to help you strengthen, explore and grow in your faith and beliefs every day. Daily chapel, mission and ministry groups, community service, academic classes, Bible studies, outreach events and many other activities, create a dynamic campus community of faith. As for worship opportunities, you'll find many different options all scheduled to accommodate your busy schedule. Monday-Friday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Sunday

Walk the Talk Putting faith into action through service-learning is an important part of campus life - for your spiritual, personal and academic development. Service-learning allows students to fulfill a course requirement even as they serve others by volunteering in various capacities, such as serving breakfast at a local homeless shelter, mentoring at-risk youth or facilitating an outreach activity at a local congregation.
HEALTHY BODY, HEALTHY MIND You don't have to be a Golden Bears athlete to get fit (or stay that way). Intramural sports let you flex your competitive muscle - without the hassle of away games. Run off pent-up energy on the 800 meter indoor track or reserve a racquetball court for some heart-pounding racquetball action at Gangelhoff Center. The Bear Den, located in the Student Union lower level is another workout option with treadmills, exercise bikes, free weights and more - and you don't even have to cross the street! Small Campus, Big City Think you have to choose between the comforts of a close-knit campus community and the convenience of big-city living? At Concordia, you can have both! We're conveniently located just minutes from both downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis. That means easy access to almost everything - including jobs and internships while you're in school and career prospects after graduation. That's the kind of real-world experience that gets an employer's attention. Things to do? The metro area has so much to offer! We're a quick stroll away from the beautiful mansions of historic Summit Avenue and the unique restaurants and shops of Grand Avenue. You could eat at a different restaurant every day of your four years at Concordia and never repeat yourself. Take a culinary world tour sampling the restaurants on nearby University Avenue - whether it's authentic Asian food at Mai Village or pirozhki at the Russian Tea House. Get ready for a dining adventure. In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, you're never very far from nature. With miles of walking, biking, inline skating and cross-country ski trails, ski and snowboard lodges, zoos, parks and golf courses throughout the metro area, you'll find plenty to do in the great outdoors.
Theatre and art? It's all here, with dozens of outstanding museums (many with free admission on weekdays) and dozens of theatres (check out student rush prices). Music? Rock, Alternative, Jazz, HipHop, World Beat - you name it, you can find it at the hundreds of music cafes, clubs and major venues that call the Twin Cities home. When you're not studying, Concordia makes an ideal home base for sampling the cultural scene, shopping, sports, fine arts, festivals, activities and more. At Concordia, you'll never be at a loss for fun things to do with your free time!
Twin Cities Quick Facts ■ ■ ■ ■

About Our Logo Our logo is in the form of a window, symbolizing Christian higher education as a window on life. Framed within the window, a cross emerges, which identifies Christ as the center of life. The four symbols in our logo are a cross, a quill, a globe and a person. The cross represents the Good News of Jesus Christ as basis of life and education at Concordia. The quill represents our commitment to academic excellence and the love of learning. The person with outstretched arms implies reaching out to others, openness to community, celebration and prayer. The globe reflects our concern for the enlightened care of God's creation.
Our Mission The mission of Concordia University, St. Paul, a university of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, is to prepare students for thoughtful and informed living, for dedicated service to God and humanity, and for the enlightened care of God's creation, all within the context of the Christian Gospel.
