Things to do in Lucan this month Take a Tour of Lucan's historic sites Download a walking tour and map of Lucan Village from southdublinhistory.ie. Alternatively join the *Lucan Village Heritage Walk which will leave from St. Mary's Church Car Park at 10.30am on Thursday 7th September. Part of Lucan Festival and South Dublin's History and Heritage programme of events of July and September, it includes an opportunity to see the ruins of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary dating back to the 12th Century (visible from behind Kenny’s and O’Neill’s Pubs). On Saturday 9th September you can see the ruins from within the grounds of Lucan House at the Festival Open Day from 1.30pm to 5pm. Joe Byrne will give a talk on Industries of Lucan at 6.30pm 23rd August at Lucan Library.

Take Part in Heritage Week Taking place from the 19th to the 27th August local events include a guided kayaking tour of Lucan and the Strawberry Beds.

You can have your say on the plans for Lucan Swimming Pool. Council Plans can be viewed and submissions made online at consult.sdublincoco.ie. They are on public display at Lucan Library and at County Hall, Tallaght until 28th August 2017. You can also post a written submission to arrive no later than 5pm on 11th September 2017.

Enjoy Amenities in Lucan's Parks Lucan has many beautiful parks and open spaces which the Council has enlarged and enhanced over the years including Griffeen Valley Park, the Village Green, Willsbrook Park, Hermitage Park, Vesey Park and Lucan Demesne. Griffeen Valley Park

There is lots to see and do in our parks. You can feed the ducks at Lucan Village Green the Irish Wildlife Trust recommends defrosted frozen peas rather than bread. Vesey Park has its very own guest house for birds and other wildlife. Bird House, Vesey Park

Make your views known on Lucan’s Waters Submissions accepted until the end of August on the Draft River Basin Management Plan at consultation.environ.ie.
