Welcome North Country Summer School (NCSS) welcomes international students ages 9-13 for two 3-week sessions of English language and American culture immersion. NCSS offers experiential language instruction in the morning, enriching activities and excursions in the afternoon, and guided study hall in the evening. Our experienced teachers, small size and campus offerings provide an exceptional opportunity to improve language proficiency and experience memorable summertime activities. Our program is appropriate for young students seeking a first educational experience in the U.S., as well as students preparing for ongoing study at American schools.
Our Program NCSS is designed around individual language needs within small group instruction. Summer students engage in projects and activities that require them to utilize their rapidly developing English language skills. Many of our students have studied English for several years, though we are able to accommodate a range of English language learners. Our on- and off-campus trips build community spirit and are designed to expose students to life in the U.S. We balance academics and recreation to ensure that language learning is practical and applicable. Parents enjoy following their child’s activities via twice weekly e-newsletters.
Language Instruction Our teachers have high expectations for their students and employ a variety of teaching methods, hands-on projects and innovative uses of technology. Our classes are interactive; students work in small groups, participate in discussions and make presentations. • • • • •
