Camp Treetops North Country School Dear North Country School and Camp Treetops Community, Greetings from the Executive Director Search Committee. To start, thank you to everyone who answered the Survey Monkey from our prior note. Not surprisingly, the response rate was excellent, with over 250 responses, reflecting the passion and commitment of our community. Our mission to cultivate and support the development of rugged, resourceful, and resilient young people was widely endorsed by all respondents, along with the clear desire to identify an Executive Director who shares those values and will help steward our community with wisdom, collaboration, and excellent communication skills. Much progress has been made since our last communication: • • • •
We’ve held several virtual town halls with both NCS and CTT faculty, counselors, and staff. Everyone came prepared with excellent questions, which speaks to the engagement of all stakeholders. It’s often said that it takes a village, and ours is a wonderfully strong and passionate village. Ben Bolte and Burke Zalosh, of Carney Sandoe (the search firm we’ve retained), have visited both camp and school. With each visit, their understanding and respect for our community’s passion, caring, and sense of purpose has grown. The position description has been carefully crafted and posted and can be viewed HERE. Carney Sandoe has received statements of interest from over 50 candidates; while only a percentage of those have proven viable, we are pleased to know that the position is a desirable one. We anticipate an uptick in interest as the fall approaches.
As you well know, the shared mission of camp and school -- to nurture, facilitate the growth of, and educate middle-school-aged children in all four seasons -- is unique. Our historic farm and campus are exceptional and invaluable components of the magic that happens here. The addition of Round Lake Campus adds to our suite of strengths and provides enormous growth opportunities for the future. The opportunity to be a part of our story as we launch into the next 100 years has been greeted with considerable enthusiasm and interest, as well it should. This committee is mindful of the importance of our task. Each of us shares the passionate dedication to our community that we all know and recognize in one another, and we are dedicated to finding the absolute best person to lead us forward. We’ve been impressed by the sophistication and experience of the folks we have had a chance to meet thus far. The committee looks forward to meeting more in the coming months. We continue to solicit suggestions for potential qualified candidates and trust that you will not hesitate to reach out with any questions or thoughts. We can be reached via email at: search@ncstreetops.org. Hope you are all having a restorative and productive summer.
