LUMINAIRE

Glass and LED lamps

How to unite the old technique of glass blowing with cutting edge LED technology ? The transition in lighting design as well as my adoration for hand blown glass is the starting point for this project. “Luminaire” is a family of lamps, where milky glass creatures live with LED fixtures in a symbiosis. The physicality of light and organic material becomes the most important part. The lamps provide a warm ambience and the light is soft and relaxing. The glowing sequence of dots, created by LED is transformed pleasantly by glass shell. The glass shapes are blown by Charlie Meaker with Justyna's assistance. “Luminaire” is my graduation project in The Danish Design School. The project was supervised by Maria Sparre-Petersen.

Lamps were presented in the prestigious SOMA magazine, November 2010 issue.

PROCESS PICTURES show my experiments with the development of shapes and research in light’s temperature quality.

Lamps were presented at the SHOWHOW exhibition, organized by Danish Design Center during London Design Festival 2010.

TILTED

Glass and LED lamp

In this lamp light travels through the solid glass. Tilted is a night lamp where the light appears in a mysterious way. It is transmitted through the solid glass like in an optic fibre. During the day it is an intriguing, sculptural object, in the night, it glows, giving the pleasant, comforting light. The form invites you to manipulate and place it on the different angles. This project was designed and realized in DKDS course in 2009.
