House is Malabar
House in Malabar This project was developed during the time that I was working in one of the companies in Colombia (Espacios y Diseño), but the initial stages were done between my dad and I. This is a peoject that is being constructed right now, but it is not the final design. There were some modifications made from this to the final one. But up to the point that I was involved in it I was resposible to make the Revit files as well as the Lumion renders.

Stairs Project
Cube Project Solid vs Void This project consisted on the exploration of space through the use of stairs. We work through this with predetermined rules assigned by the instructor. Starting by having nine runs, later moving forward to starting the sequence at the bottom and finish it at the top.
This project felt at the end like a good training at modeling because I never done something like that before hand. Which now it has helped me to work through coming models in the coming projects. Software: Revit and Photoshop
Above:
p.11
Later on we started to work with hierarchy, where I introduced a different element. This was an opportunity for me to play with space in a very constrain area trying to make it interesting for the viewer. At the same time the idea of thinking the space as a sequence helped to developed how to approach the project.

Archeology of Section
Archeology of Section This project consisted in creating a composition from predetermined forms that were given to each one of us. This forms were extracted from five different section that were assigned. In the case of this project the sections used come from the following buildings. Santa Maria delle Carceri, project for Laperouse Mausoleum, Sao Paulo Museum of Art, Park Tower, and Skull from Leonardo Da Vinci.
Software: Rhino 3D only 2D view.
p.15
We got familiarized with the section by drawing them and then cutting them down, trying to understand the elements used and later on using certain elements in our advantage to create our own composition.

Fibonacci Grid
Fibonacci Grid This project consisted on creating a building off of the Fibonacci grid which come with a preset series of numbers. 1, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 68. To which we started with the base 13, 21, and 68, and later on we broke down this grid into to lower numbers accordingly. The first volumes that were introduced to the grid were a two story volume (21’ high) and a one story volume (13’ high) were the idea was to explore how this two volumes intersect.
Software: Rhino 3d, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Above: Axon of Tounhouse
p.19
Besides the set primary grid that was assigned and the secondary grid created by each one of us, there was some volumetric operations that had to be done in the intersection of both volumes and the roof of the two story volume. And from that point it was a matter of work through the grid and volumetric operations to create an outcome.

Surface and Light
Surface and Light Starting with light as a material day one oof the project was the main driver of the project. Light studies were the fisrt thing we did and then the project progressed slowly into bigger and bigger scales.
Software: Rhino 3D, Revit, Illustrator
p.25
The final output for this project was an art museum located where the current art museum is at SDSU. And taking in acount that light cannot hit directly onto the art that is going to be located in the museum.

The ‘Holy’ Light
The ‘Holy’ Light As light is what makes our designs come to life, and light is a driver to religious architecture, there is not better relation to study and understand is create stunning building that attempt to take advantage of this material. And this is the goal of this project, study how light can be used in a building and relate it to the creation of spiritual experiences.
Software used: Rhino, Lumion, Illustrator
Above: Collage of opposing ideas
p.31
Materiality, Light, and direction of the building is key to create a suitable ambiance to facilitate spiritual experiences.

Site Near one of the highest mountains of Colombia, this mountain is called Nevado del Ruiz. Located near the city of Manizales, it hovers above the clouds. Something to take note of as well is that this mountain is also a volcano. Moving down the mountain the terrain moves from a bare environment with barely any vegetation, into a lush environment. As it is known to be in Colombia with a lot of the rain-forest bleeding deep into the country. Also, with plenty of giant bamboo across almost the entire country. Flora and fauna are a staple of the country and its vast variety that exists within it. Access does not exist to the specific site in mind, which will require to add an access to the parking lot which will be about 1 km from the closest road, leaving the approach to the site from the parking lot to be about another Kilometer.
Design Guidelines - Axial separation of gathering space and utility. - Roof from gathering extends to access space. - Main gathering space is cover from access path. - Organic gemetry used for gathering spaces. - Structure lands in metal holders before reaching the concrete floor. - Main space is cover, to create a sense of awe as the individual comes inside.

Precedent Study 1
Precedent Study 1 Revit and VRay Practice The purpose of this study was to learn the ins and outs of Revit and VRay and have a strong strart on how to use this programs properly. This happened during the the year I was in Colombia (Between my junior and senior year) and I took the opportunity to refine my skills in this area.
Software used: Revit, VRay, Photoshop
p.39
This wasn’t done completely by myself, I was guided by Juan David Velasquez. Someone that is very proficient at both programs and great at teaching them.
